Meet Alante Baugh: Fashion Designer, Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alante Baugh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alante, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
One of my brand goals is to open minds with mens fashion. Growing up I’ve always heard what men can and cannot wear, I’ve always felt it limited men with fashion and self growth (with learning who they are and what they like) my brand concept is “Beauty and the Beast.” With this concept it can opt-out gender identified fashion by mixing feminine and masculine aesthetics to bring a new approach to the fashion industry. For this I believe my brand can help with growth, and open mindedness within ourselves.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Alante Baugh is a Black-owned luxury fashion brand, best known for its groundbreaking mens coats and jackets. I love coats, jackets and blazers, I spent many years learning how to make/sew and tailor jackets. My name Alante is from an old school car. Cars play a big part of my inspiration, I’ve always loved cars growing up as a kid. I love all the different shapes/styles of cars there are, I love the detail of the interior and exterior of a car. From the leather stitching in the seats to the dashboard, Which inspires all the details in my jackets.

Now I’ve released my website, I am building my Clientele and networking. This year of 2021 my focus is brand awareness, for the past 10 years I’ve been staying focused on building my sewing skills and learning about business. Now I feel more ready than ever.

I am beyond proud of how far my brand has come and even more proud of how far its about to go. I am now an alumnus of the Illinois Institute of Arts Chicago, where I perfected my craft in sewing, tailoring and studying fashion. I am an award winning fashion designer, Winning top student designer in Chicago. My work has been displayed in Neiman Marcus Men’s Wear department. I have built lasting relationships with celebrities and fashion moguls, including Teyana Taylor and Serena Williams.

I am currently creating short fashion films to showcase more of my work virtually, I am also getting ready to release my first underwear ever and leather bag line. I am excited to keep growing and building.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am new to the city and don’t know many places myself. But we are for sure going to a museum than some where to eat fun vegan food.

I will love to take this time to thank those who have supported me while building my fashion brand.
