We had the good fortune of connecting with Freddrena Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Freddrena, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking can be tricky. I’m the type of person that normally wants to know what’s the end game and results before I proceed. But going through any process you have to take chances. Trusting your first gut instinct on what feels right… trust that. I wanted to grow and expand my market and did so in the middle of a pandemic. I opened my first store location inside of the painted tree marketplace. 3 months into what has changed our lives and I’m thinking what the heck have I gotten myself into. I kept reminding myself stay the course and enjoy the process. Has it been easy; of course not and sales were not there. But that was to be expected. As time slowly passed and world started to reopen my business once again started to blossom. Now I’m currently in the process of opening a second location. Taking certain risks have made a positive impact in my career as far as advancing to another level that didn’t seem obtainable working alone. It has also given me a broader perspective with re-branding the business and keeping a buzz. So I figured since I’m being risky I also wanted my own line of gourmet coffee. I put my critical thinking hat on and went in overdrive to make it happen. There are a thousands of coffee brands out there but it’s not SUGES and those other brands definitely isn’t going to taste like mine. Since the launch the response has been mind blowing. Taking these risks to branch off and try new things have also helped me my personal life as well. Anything is possible and obtainable with a positive and focused mindset.

What should our readers know about your business?
SUGES Gourmet Coffee & Desserts specializes in assorted desserts inside mason jars and Gourmet Flavored Coffee. We’re located at 1600 Mall of Georgia Blvd Suite 900 Buford, GA 30519 inside of the Painted Tree Marketplace. Second location opening soon in Roswell. Our desserts are sold at Helen’s Hot Chicken downtown Atlanta. SUGES stands out because the Love and consistent quality we put in our products. It keeps our customers coming back. Handcrafted meticulously so every bite is mouthwatering along with the nice bold aroma from your favorite cup of coffee to get the day started. Nobody wants boring or bland. So our desserts and Gourmet Coffee will leave you satisfied wanting more! What I’m most proud about SUGES is seeing how far we’ve come. I could not had imagined the growth and expansion the company has made. From making desserts taking it to school as a kid; having now multiple locations and NOW coffee. COFFEE!!! Our gourmet coffee is simply amazing. From Bourbon Pecan, Almond Amaretto, Caramel Truffle, Cinnamon Hazlenut the list goes on!!! Getting to this point with Suges is not easy and it’s definitely not for the weak… You have to trust & believe in yourself and trust YOUR process. In order to overcome your challenges is to face them head on. I’ve learned many lessons these past few years. The biggest critic of you is YOU. So love and self care is important. What I would like the world to know about SUGES is that our love is in everything we do and that reflects on the quality of our products.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If one of my friends was visiting hotlanta I would take them to Sivas for good drinks and hookah, Pasha restaurant/ bar, ride the scooters around the belt line, the indoor skydiving in norcross, Havana night club, the Optimist restaurant, whiskey blue, this list could go on forever lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout-out to my brother SUGE. He is my motivation and I pray that he’s proud of what I’m doing to keep his name alive. My grandmothers Joyce & Katherine. Without them I wouldn’t be the baker that I am today. My mother Melissa and sisters Melody and Nakieta for always listening to my crazy ideas and running to my rescue literally to help me with big events and putting my little nieces and nephews to work lol. I would also like to shoutout my sis Callan for being very analytical, my Aunt Muffin she’s as sweet as her nickname and has an awesome dessert company and rental hall herself. My close friends Lorraine, Duck & Shica for always keeping me motivated everyday, my CSU family for always being so supportive. All of my family, friends and those I may not know I sincerely thank and love you all. You are my village and keep me going. THANK YOU!!!
