We had the good fortune of connecting with Caprianna Bethune and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caprianna, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose this creative path because I truly love baking. When I see someone enjoying my products that really makes me extremely happy and pleased that with all the simple ingredients I use from my pantry I am able to make a yummy treat for everyone to enjoy.

Working in corporate world opened my eyes to realize that I wanted my own business and wanted to be my own boss, in a field that I was truly passionate about. Owning a business is never easy especially when it’s your first business, but I’ve learned you must network and ask questions to fully understand different aspects of any business. My business is a year old but within this year I have learned an abundance of information from peers and professionals in the same field. I have learned that you will make mistakes, but it is all about how you handle the mistake and make sure that mistake doesn’t happen again. I also learned that having a business you must take it day by day. When people see the name Cakes By Cap I want them to know that they will receive quality service and products.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have an at home bakery still working towards my ultimate goal to having my own building I can call my own. I make different sweet treats from cupcakes, cobblers, cheesecakes, and custom cakes to name a few. What sets me a part from others is my passion behind each product I create for my customers. It’s truly about seeing every customer smile with every bite.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Day 1 Brunch- Meehans public House off of Paces Ferry ( amazing food and drinks) Lunch- The corner grille in college park, GA ( there whole menu is amazing!!) Dinner- Suite Lounge ( they have good drinks and have a nice DJ when it changes to night life) Day 2 Breakfast- thumbs up diner in Austell, Ga ( they have so many options you will never get tired of eating there) Lunch- Pit Boss ( best barbecue in town) Dinner- fin and feathers ( great night life) Day 3 Breakfast- kaleidoscope bistro ( the french toast is amazing!) Lunch- Cozumel off of Old National (amazing and flavorful mexican food) Dinner- Texas roadhouse ( they have amazing steak) Day 4 Visit the underground, coca cola exhibit, and the Georgia aquarium. All of these places are must sees when traveling to Georgia and you have to start early to see everything.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My passion resurfaced from my teacher in high school, Chef Tosha was so gifted and loved teaching. I was drawn by her compassion and her willingness to teach when questions were asked. I knew I could be just like her if I put my mind to it. My family and friends were beyond supportive when I said I was going to start my business because I always talked about fulfilling my dream of becoming an entrepreneur.
