Meet Lee Campbell: Business Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lee Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lee, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
As a business educator, I am in the business of building businesses and most people are unaware of how HARD it is. Entrepreneurship is glamourized as working from bed, taking as many exotic vacations as you like, constant parties and celebrations and of course, UNLIMITED MONEY. Sure, that can and will happen for every successful business owner, but most do not realize all of the intricate details that come along with running your own business. Learning to be organized, understanding target audiences, sales, marketing, funding and least favorite, ACCOUNTING are all pertinent parts of running your business and most do not have an awareness of the difficulties of this journey. It takes vision and persistence to find success and a will NEVER to quit no matter how tough it gets.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a business educator, I am most proud of how I can take complex business ideas and break them down into easy to do steps. Having a corporate career in sales and marketing I was always astonished at how at the foundation of these these trillion dollar companies were simple principles. For one, understanding how to build relationships is the most important thing that every business owner should understand how to do. Making people feel like people and not just a number or a paid invoice is my specialty. I am proud of how I make everyone of my customers feel appreciated.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Although I was raised in Hawaii, I believe Atlanta to be the greatest city in the world! For a week long trip I would recommend that they stay at the Hilton Suites in Perimeter. Very reasonable rates plus a hot tub! Some of the places we would visit would be Ponce City Market, I love their roof top where we could play mini golf, listen to great music, have drinks and a bite to eat at the restaurant. Not to mention take in an incredible view of the city. Some other fun places in Atlanta include Stone Mountain where we would trek up the mountain in search of another great view. I also love the Sun Dial at the Westin (it’s something about nice views for me!) The High Museum is another favorite of mines and I also enjoy taking guest to the Martin Luther King Center, as Atlanta is also the birth of the Civil Rights movement.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who deserve credit in my story. I was just reminiscing about how this time last year I had only ONE client, and now I have so many that I am booked for the rest of the year! Firstly I credit my mother Sherell Campbell, owner of The Red Door event facility in Stone Mountain, GA for being my biggest supporter, mentor, sponsor and best friend. My grandparents, Joanne and WillIie Campbell, my aunts and uncles, Sonja, Sharon. Sophia, Sheila, Abdul, Ken and Earl. My cousins Marchelle and Maliese Campbell, Angelique Shabazz and Mark Arnold especially, for being my biggest supporters and constantly checking on me. As well as LaTrice, LaToya and Kelly, LaShondra, Eric, Miles, Antoine and Ashley,Jermaine and Frances, Marquia, Jherica, Kenyatta, Marie, Joyce and everyone in the Elston bunch. Also my friends Nkechi Ndukwe, Sonya White, Cecelia Harris and Jasmine Reed, Kellen Taylor and Demetrius Tarrant for always being there for me when I need them.
