We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Sprecher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
It sounds cliche but I would like my legacy to be that I left my community, or the world, if you will, better than I found it. I want people to remember me for being reliable, dependable and that I did what I said I was going to do. Most importantly I want to be remembered for treating everyone the same–from the CEO of a Fortune 500 company to the Administrative Assistant.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I took a circuitous and non traditional route in my career. I started in nonprofit program management and then got into education through a non formal route by working in community partnerships. Each position I held led me to my next one and I got to where I am by just learning and consuming everything I could, building relationships with EVERYONE and showing up to EVERYTHING. It has not always been easy but if you are committed to your mission and your why, you always have that to fall back on!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Breakfast at The Gathering Spot, the best club in Atlanta. Then the Civic Bikes tour! And then somewhere for ice cream!!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is dedicated to strong women and my female friends!! I have a small group of female friends in the nonprofit space I meet with every couple of months to lift each other up and they inspire me. Women are incredible–we carry children and we run the world!
