We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Gunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Olivia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to create my own platform to share my gift.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Olivia Gunn PR & Communications provides solutions to small businesses, organizations, and entrepreneurs maintain and grow their brand with effective communications strategies. I offer a variety of services to help communicate with target audiences as well as gain publicity for events, product launches, and more. What sets Olivia Gunn PR apart from others is my ability to serve diverse clientele. My clients have consisted of small businesses, creatives, music artists, entrepreneurs, and even aspiring actresses. I’m most proud that I actually took the leap to launch my business. For years, I would help friends and associates with communications strategies for their business, but I never thought I would actually establish my own business and officially offer services. I’m also proud of the recognition I’ve received for my works. I was named Media Mogul of the Year in 2018 and 2019, and Blogger of the Year in 2020. I decided to launch my business after not being content with just being in the workforce only. I felt that I wasn’t operating in my full potential. Launching Olivia Gunn PR & Communications was not easy, because initially, I was scared, and I didn’t know much about running a business. I knew the services I wanted to offer, so I overcame challenges by them using them as learning experiences. Anything about business that I didn’t know, I took time to research and learn it, instead of giving up. I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is not easy. I’ve learned that an “overnight success” takes several years. I’m committed to remaining a student and learning as much as I can to not only grow my business, but be of better assistance to my clients. I want the masses to know that Olivia Gunn PR & Communications derived from me identifying my talents and gifts, and deciding to work them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, we would visit some of my favorite restaurants, such as Marlow’s Tavern. Marlow’s offers a nice vibe and great menu options. I like that Marlow’s has common foods with a twist, like their shrimp and grits. We’d have to do at least one night where we dress up for a night on the town. We would eat dinner at Ruth’s Chris, where in addition to steak, I would suggest their lamb chops. One of the most fun places I’ve checked out in Atlanta is The Painted Pin. I like to call it bowling with a twist. What I like most is you don’t have to bowl to have a good time. It’s a nice place for a girls night out or even a date night as there’s a nice bar and games. For games, food, and fun, we’d stop by Top Golf. I’ve lucked up and bumped into a few celebs at both spots. Strolling Peters Street on a Saturday is also a must as the options for fun are unlimited.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
