Meet Juwuan Tolbert | Stadium Operations Coordinator & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Juwuan Tolbert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juwuan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The biggest factor behind my success as well as my brand, is being patient. The fashion industry has taught me a lot about being patient and not rushing the process. Mind you, I waited two years to come out with my brand. Not only that, I was still designing within those two years while working a full time job. I could have easily came out with the first shirt I design, but I also understood my consumers are going to want to know what’s next. So I put in two years worth of work, as well as wanted to deliver a meaning and purpose to my target audience. I believe staying patient, getting a feel of what the market need, selecting the right designs at the right time is what has contributed to our success. I remind my team every time that our biggest characteristic is that we are patient.

Alright, so let’s move onto what is your brand, & how did you get started professionally in your career?
The name of my brand is Fashion Athletic Urban Society aka (FAUS). FAUS represents God, Family, and a Hustler’s Mentality to go and get it while chasing your dreams and turning them into reality. Those three things is what got me to where I am today professionally. Not only did I take this motto into my art and brand, but also into landing my full time job as a Stadium Operations Coordinator for the Atlanta Braves. How I created FAUS and landed my full time job is really a true testament, because I had to take a step out on faith. I remember graduating from college in 2018, thought I would be going to the NFL but that didn’t happen. I returned home, was going through post college depression, didn’t no one want to give me a job, felt like I didn’t have enough experience, but I kept getting on my knees and praying. I decided and told myself since nobody going to give me an opportunity, I’ll go into my own business. That night I stayed up until 4:38 a.m. in the morning and designed my first shirt. Ever since then, I haven’t looked back and took full advantage of this vision God gave me. In 2019, God blessed me with an opportunity to be apart of the Atlanta Braves Trainee Program. So I created this brand in 2018, and didn’t release it until 2020; because in 2019 I was so focused on trying to land a full time job with the Atlanta Braves, I said I have to take full advantage of this and put the clothing line on hold. But I was still designing during that time while also grinding with the Braves. I’m excited about this journey that me and my team are about to embark on because coming from Augusta, Ga there’s not too many individuals doing this. Our brand not only has great quality, but a purpose and meaning behind it that wants to deliver a message to world that they too can make a way out of no way. We have another acronym called K.I.N.G which means Keep Inspiring Next Generation. We care about our kids, our community , and wanting to inspire everyone where we come from.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say first depending on what season we in, but start off by either going to a Braves, Falcons, or Hawks game. Later that night, we’ll hit up Fellaship Cam Newton Cigar Lounge. That place is very nice, makes you want to get dressed up, food good, music nice, able to network, and great cigars. Fresh Treats Gourmet Bistro is definitely another eating spot I would take them to over there on Glenwood in Decatur. That night we’ll hit Goldroom, the experience is definitely a vibe. That Sunday finish off with brunch at the Rooftop at Ponce De Leon City Market. So that would be my weekend for them!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I must thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because he’s the one who gave me the vision . Secondly, I would like to acknowledge my family for everything they have done and sacrifice to help bring this vision to light. I couldn’t have done this without my grandmother (Deborah), my mother (Kimberly), my cousins, and my dad & uncles for being my toughest critiques and seeing the vision. I also would like to give thanks to Dorvis Stewart, Deon Grant, Channele Lovett, Joshua Adams, Geonte Smith, Erin Cave, Khalia Taylor, Klon Lovett, Isaiah Bennett, Tony Daggett, Dominique Archie , and Jaiah Rodgers for being apart this journey and process as well. Lastly, I can’t forget about these last two angels who are up in the sky watching down upon us my cousin Jabrie Dominguez, and my beautiful grandmother Rhonda Tolbert.
