We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia Farrow and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mia, what do you want people to remember about you?
I would like my legacy to be that I was dedicated to making a positive impact in every community that I serve. I would like for people to remember me as a selfless leader who strived to help the community as much as I could, that truly cared about others and their well-being. I would like to be remembered as the one who made it her mission to aid as many families as possible, that brought joy to as many families as I could, by providing various free and beneficial resources to the community that helped aid them in the right direction to success, wealth and prosperity.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me a part from others is that my mission is to provide free resources and services to All individuals that need assistance regardless of their income. I am most proud and excited to be the Founder/Director of New Transition to Success because it gives me comfort to see so many people happy and benefit from resources and services that my organization provides. I got where I am today professionally through networking and most of all through prayer and being persistent. Off course it was difficult for awhile, but being humble and patient has paid off. The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way is that even leaders have to become a follower at times in your life. I never thought I was a follower however, in my opinion if someone can inspire or teach you anything, in a sense you are a follower if you choose to use their methods or lessons. When I first started my non profit I thought I knew it all because of the leadership my parents instilled in me. However, my mother told me that being quiet, listening, watching, and learning does not mean you aren’t a leader, it just means you are a leader and a student that is preparing to become a stronger leader. To sum it all up, my mother taught me that even leaders can become students at any point in life. Once I allowed myself to become a student, I eventually become a better leader that has inspired other students to become a better leader. I want the world to know that my organization focuses on providing free resources to anyone regardless of their gender, race, and income status. You are never privileged or underprivileged to receive the services that my organization has to offer.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Favorite spots or attractions in the city for me include museums/historical sites located downtown, such as High Museum, Martin Luther King Center, Atlanta Zoo, Coco Cola Factory, Botanical Gardens, Civil Rights Center, and more. If you like arcade games Game X, Dave And Buster, Andretti, and more are fun and entertaining. Fifths Plaza, Lenox, North Pointe and Perimeter Mall are nice to visit for shopping and dining.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to my three children and my parents. My love ones have been my inspiration to help others. I’ve learned how to support and give to the community through my mother and father making monetary donations to feed, clothes, and support any family that needed help over the years of my life. My parents have also volunteered their time with various organizations. My children deserve credit as well because their creative minds have influenced new ideas for expansion and opened doors for my organization to prosper and be successful. Also, they volunteer their time and serve the youth and adults in various communities during our workshops, community events and any other programs that my organization has throughout the year.
