We had the good fortune of connecting with LaTisha Guster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaTisha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process was simple: to create a beautiful space that included the topics of fashion, beauty & lifestyle that women would love to visit and enjoy posted content. I wanted to connect with other like-minded women with similar interests.Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the co-owner of our family business, The Urban Geeks, which is a husband & wife led creative agency designed to provide small businesses with all of the digital resources that beautifully reflects their business. We have worked with a wide array of small business owners. Some include professional chefs, doctors, lawyers, musicians, lounge owners, business coaches, photographers, and more! One of the things I am most proud of, even after being in business now for 9 years, is having amazing clients who refer us to their friends in need of our services. We provide everything from web design & redesigns, to social media management and photography. Our clients trust our eyes, our expertise, and our talents to bring their ideas to life, but referring us to their friends is what keeps us going! It’s truly a blessing. Like any business, none of this has been easy. Being a multipotentialite with several different businesses, along with having children, has been quite a task. What we have learned to do is understand that our lives have certain seasons and what requires our full attention and what is sustaining at the moment. We have learned early on that if it no longer serves others or our purpose, it’s time to move on! I take that mantra everywhere with me, whether I’m shooting, filming, or doing work for Blushing Black.Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is filled with so many amazing places to hang and eat! Four of my all-time favorite spots would be: Midtown Atlanta Castleberry Hill Kirkwood Little 5 Points Midtown is going to include great shopping, dining & great places to hang & chill. Piedmont Park, Atlantic Station and Westside Provisions – ALL faves. Castleberry Hill is right next to downtown and includes some fabulous views of the city, great for photography & filming, and eclectic eats. The restaurant Old Lady Gang is FIRE. Kirkwood is an extremely cute area that is a Millennial’s dream of trendy spaces and eats. Highly recommend one of our clients, Le Petit Marche for brunch. You will NOT be disappointed! Little 5 Points is for all of my artsy people! Great for thrift shopping, amazing finds at Moods Music, burgers & beer if that’s your flavor & just an overall cool person’s neighborhood. What’s cooler than cool? The 30-foot mural of Outkast, perfect for your feed on the ‘gram.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout includes my husband and my creative photo & film team. My husband has been supportive of this dream from the very first blog post & has continued to help me bring my vision to life. Whether it’s helping me set up my website on the back end to shooting content for me, he is truly invested to seeing my dreams come true. The Made You Look Photo & Film team is an extraordinary group of talented masterminds who help me to bring my imagery & videos to life since 2012! They are always willing to help with a campaign or a simple idea to help me tell my story. If it weren’t for my husband, Joe & my Made You Look team, I would not be where I am today!
