We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Dunson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nancy, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for your children?
I think you have to be a good role model. Children follow your lead. If you want them off those devices, get off of them yourselves. If you want them to speak more kindly, speak kindly yourself. If you want them to have good morels and values, you need to show them what those are!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been a makeup artist for 10 years primarily in the bridal part of the industry. The last couple years I’ve made the move to more commercial and editorial work. I’ve discovered that is truly where my heart lies. I’ve been trying to push myself to do different things and work with different materials. I’ve been making headdresses, trying body paint, designing crazy outfits. It’s not easy, but I love what I do so it is completely worth the effort and work.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I live in a small town just south of Atlanta so we would absolutely need to go to the city for some fun. I’m quite fond of the Midtown area. There are so many shops and restaurants to choose from. The Vortex is a must! They have amazing burgers and interesting decor; I’ll just leave it at that. LOL.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m in a few groups on Facebook dedicated to the beauty industry. People are always sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly. I’ve been able to learn from their successes and their mistakes.
