We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well, the way I started my business and my thought behind it was the love I have for people, something to bring my community together, and me being involved while being declared disable. I had the passion for doing things with people and for people, but my anxiety and panic attacks wouldn’t allow me to attend others events and celebrations so I one day said if you hold the events and do this to where you are comfortable, you won’t be uncomfortable and one day you will have the joy of bringing 1000s together in a positive comfortable setting and don’t have to miss anymore events! You go be the leader!

What should our readers know about your business?
How I got started with my Business? So as a child I was face with many challenges. I learned later I was dealing with anxiety, panic attacks and depression. I still went on as a child trying to enjoy life until things go complicated. I then had to attend home schooling and went on to get my GED in 6 hours. I started struggling with being around people so I stayed in the house 2 years. Later in life my family opened an event hall and one day I had friends to say, let’s have a round table conversation. We had so much fun that I set up another one. I started with 15 people and it took off from there. What I could then realize is I was loving being around people but only where I had control. I started doing more and more events, and I started getting more people and more encouragement. I start seeing it becoming a passion and then I would see events with 100 people, 200 people, then 500 people. The crazy thing is a lot of times I would be losing my disability money but my heart would be overjoyed because I was with people and they were happy. I then realized this is what God wanted me to do. So as I have moved on with these events I have noticed the nights I would have a panic attack, it would just be another time to get up and plan something spectacular for my people. I take all this as my purpose in life and my mission. So this is how D’Jawauns Events & Entertainment:/GOB ADULT KICKBALL LEAGUE GOT STARTED.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I took my Best Friend out for a week long while they are on vacation visiting me, they would probably be bored because I am a homebody. Lol. We would On Monday probably just do a dinner and a movie, after we would come back to the hose and play cards. On Tuesday I would choose a Mexican restaurant (my favorite) and enjoy Taco Tuesday, On Wednesday we would head to Cascade Road J.R.Crickets for WineDown Wednesday, On Thursday we would go to the Kickball field and watch my family team “Dream Crushers”play kickball then dinner afterwards. On Friday we would do Krazy Karaoke with Rashon Love, on Saturday we would Dress up and finf a nice Restaurant Downtown Atlanta, on Sunday we would attend church service at Connections of Metropolitan and later attend my event which is R&B Bingo at J.R. Crickets South Cobb in Smyrna Ga. All these places and things are what makes me happy. So we would definitely enjoy the week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Lord and Savior is the 1st Shout out! I’m nothing without him! Next is my family! My son doesn’t even realized how much he has changed my life and inspired me. My family, my mom, dad, big brother and my Kight/Martin Family. It’s not a book, it’s not an actress, but it’s my family who goes from one event to another, my family who never misses an event, my family who are lifting, pulling, and pushing, so things be right and ready to go. Not to mention my Best Friends and Team! All these people are who I dedicate my Shout out to!
