We had the good fortune of connecting with Kalita Conley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kalita, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
What makes me happy is the ability to give. I’ve been serving small business owners, executives, and corporations long enough to understand that showing up visibly and confidently is hard, and sometimes depleting. When someone comes to me for a photography experience, I want them to feel poured into. Unlike most photographers, I don’t just show up with a camera. I show up with the intention to give each client something they didn’t expect to walk away with.
I still remember a client who stood in front of the mirror before her shoot and said, “I don’t really feel comfortable doing this.” By the end of the session, she was the one asking to take another round of photos. That’s the moment I live for. If I’ve done my job, they dont just leave feeling photographed, they leave feeling seen.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
If I’ve learned anything about being a creative it’s that change happens. Adjusting to it is what will set you apart. I’ve watched how AI has entered the chat and how it resembles when digital cameras first hit the market. There was a lot of apprehension at first, but eventually most creatives adapted and used it the way they felt comfortable. I see that with AI now. Diversity in choices is what makes the world what it is today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If it’s time to to go out to eat or find something fun to do in Atlanta I certainly phone a friend. I love what Atlanta has to offer. I love the mixed use communities where you can eat live and play all in the same area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My kids are my inspiration and my motivation. Wearing a lot of hats: believer, mom, wife, employee, entrepreneur, and health enthusiast, means that I get motivation from a lot of places. Ultimately my children are woven into just about every aspect of my life. They cheer me on. They hold me accountble, and they remind me that God made me for a pupose.
