Meet Thinkpiece Tribe

We had the good fortune of connecting with Thinkpiece Tribe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Thinkpiece, why did you pursue a creative career?
To create pieces of work that forces audiences to question systems of oppression, the accepted normalcy of capitalism, the media we consume & to empower Black people like myself, friends, and family.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I make video essays, short films & commentary TikToks/reels that started in fall 2021 in my freshman dorm room at Voorhees College turned Voorhees University during my freshman year. I got to where I am today professionally through continuing to make independent projects, doing film/television internships in the city of Atlanta, picking up production assistant work, learning from my mistakes, learning what my visual language is, and figuring out different ways to produce stories & narratives pre transferring into Morehouse College, but definitely refining all these aspects when I became a Cinema, Television, Emerging Media Studies major from spring 2024-spring 2025. This obviously wasn’t an easy process and left me with 18k in student debt at the end, but I’m glad that I took a leap to learn new ways to create and improve my film pedagogy. Going through this process is how I overcame the challenges that came with it because going through the process of becoming a CTEMS major, then being a CTEMS and Sociology double major, to just a Sociology major changed how I wrote, acted, listened, heard, learned, and processed everything. Last of all, what I want the world to know about my story is that you need community to thrive, to see yourself as more than what you currently are, as part of a collective instead of an individual, because individualism can only take you so far.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To show them the best time ever I’d take them to any park in the westside of Atlanta during the peak hours where you can bring a blanket to sit on, smoke weed on the grass, eat some Rreal Tacos that you ordered earlier, and see the Black people that make this city what it is. The children playing around, the reserved line dancing spot for the aunties, people playing their tunes on loudspeakers, & lime bikes/scooters going every which way.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family has been extremely integral to my development in every aspect of my life from my mom, dad, my partner JP, sister, grandpa, grandma, aunties, uncles, cousins & all
