We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Authenticity. As the owner of a mental health practice, I believe that the Black/queer community that I serve gravitates towards the person, rather than the academic accolades or accomplishments that look good on paper. In the age of technology, social media, and the notorious AI like, ChatGPT and Gemini, people want to connect with someone real. The idea of connecting with a real human being who knows things about yourself that no one else does, accompanied with acceptance and understanding is more healing than anything AI can regurgitate or a reddit thread can do.

What should our readers know about your business?
Infinite Growth Counseling & Coaching LLC is a black-owned, woman-owned, queer-owned mental health practice in Midtown Atlanta. We serve the LGBTQ+, POC, BIPOC, and Spanish-speaking community by providing a safe space for individual therapy, group therapy, relationship therapy, and holistic wellness. Each member of our staff shows up as their unique authentic self, specializing in sex therapy, multicultural counseling, sound healing, and neurodivergence.

We all have similar beliefs about the mental health field, advocating for accessible, affordable, and approachable services regardless of socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexual orientation, or race/ethnicity. Not only is there a focus on client-care, but as the practice owner, I believe in a healthy work environment where the employees are treated as people. I believe that employees can be lost in the numbers and profit goals, and I believe they are much more important than that. A healthy, well taken care of employee is a human one.

Getting to where I have with my practice has not been easy and has continued to be a struggle. Starting from zero and working my way up to expanding to having 4 therapists on staff has been no easy feat. I continue to struggle with finding adequate funding for my business that will allow me to grow and market more effectively. Due to these barriers, I have had to be strategic. I market using social media, creating a virtual footprint for the practice, vending, and networking. Despite the denials from big name banks and other funding companies, I refuse to be stopped. One invaluable lesson I have learned so far in this process is that community is everything; walking in your truth and having a vision that people want to get behind can make all the difference. The support I have received in this journey means everything to me.

What I want to world to know about my brand is that it was built FOR YOU. Built in struggle with perseverance and determination, Infinite Growth CC exists to serve, to facility, to support… and it always will.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As an Atlanta native, I love this question! Bomb Biscuit ATL in Grant Park is one of the best breakfast and brunch spots in the city. For lunch, you have to check out Grindhouse Killer Burgers or JR Crickets. For dinner, Polaris is *chefs kiss*. I actually ran into one of the managers of Polaris and he shared with me that he models the restaurant to cater to Black women and as a Black woman, I loved this restaurant far before I ran into him in the city. Please go check it out!

As a queer, Black woman, I love to socialize at curated events organized for people who align with my identities. ALT ATL is a great organizer of black queer events. Adult Supervision Needed is another great one! I also enjoy attending festivals, flea markets, and gatherings geared toward connection and community in the Black community overall.

I can’t forget about the coffee! Omni Coffee & Eggs (Black-owned), Perc Coffee, Black Coffee ATL (Black-owned), Daily Dose, Raani Coffee, Portrait Coffee (Black-owned), and Little Tart are on CONSTANT rotation for me. Absolutely delicious!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my parents, Roslyn & Johnny Jones, for their unwavering support and encouragement that they’ve given me since I was younger. They always believed that I could accomplish anything I put my mind to. Whatever I wanted to do, they would do whatever they could to help set me up for success; whether that was paying for additional training, providing financial support through college, or even giving me resources when I had questions about the complexities of running a business.
