We had the good fortune of connecting with Shavar Lester and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shavar, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Our mission is to build a space where small businesses, emerging creators, and culture-centered brands can thrive in like community. Every event, partnership, and initiative we launch is designed with community impact in mind.

We help our community by providing accessible tools for small content creators to develop meaningful content. Our curated events seek to provide a creative safe space and fun filled events for the community and creatives alike.

We impact lives through creative advocacy and fostering a community where everyone feels supported, celebrated, and seen.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We support small business and small content creators at fair prices, and we are most excited about the versatility of the space. It is a blank canvas for which we can tailor the space to any creative need – from podcast sets and photography shoots, intimate-sized curated events, to creative classes and more. To reach our goal was a leap of faith action between long time friends who both share a passion for the creative mindset and process. We started with a small realistic plan, and are in execution mode of that plan using SMART goals. We experienced challenges along the way, like acquiring quality resources and equipment for use, and finding the right suite, but we overcame through persistence. We learned the importance of capital – tables, mics, lights, backdrops, chairs, and even surge protectors all cost money!

We want the world to know that our space and intentions are for creators by creatives. There is a safe space available if you have no place to create your art.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d start the trip with a trip to Nouveau Bar for some soul food, then a stroll along the BeltLine and Ponce City Market. From there, we’d move into exploring Black history and culture with visits to the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the King Historic District, and the High Art Museum. Of course, we would also hit up the Trap Music Museum and experience The Escape Room.

Another day would be dedicated to being “outside,” whether it’s Stone Mountain, a local festival, or bar-hopping through Little Five Points. No Atlanta trip is complete without experiencing wings, so South Side wings would be a definite stop, because the wings truly are that good. We would close out the trip with a sporting event from any of the numerous teams Atlanta has or go skating.

Finally, we’d end the week with a true Southern Sunday: church, brunch at Whisk.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We’d like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our incredible support systems. To our families, friends, and loved ones: thank you for being our backbone, and motivation. Your guidance, patience, and unwavering support have helped make this possible.

We also show love to our Alma Mater, South Carolina State University. Our time there helped to mold us into impactful citizens. “Love and cherish thee!”
