We had the good fortune of connecting with Chirstin Kennedy-Miggins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chirstin, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success, and the success of my brand.. has been consistency and faith. I’ve been through a lot in life, from becoming a young mom in college to overcoming postpartum depression, losing 100 pounds, and completely rebranding myself inside and out. But through it all, I never stopped showing up for myself. Even on the days I felt like giving up, I kept going. I stayed grounded in my purpose and leaned on God every step of the way. That foundation of faith, paired with my commitment to healing and growth, is what birthed *The Self Love Suite*. I built this brand with real stories, real struggle, and real love—and I think that’s why it resonates. It’s not just a business. It’s my testimony.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a reflection of every scar I’ve healed, every goal I’ve chased, and every moment I had to choose myself even when it hurt.
Everything I’ve built—from The Self Love Suite to my self-love workbook—comes from lived experience. Real pain. Real growth. Real healing. After I gave birth to my son Nicholas, I barely recognized myself. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and carrying not just physical weight, but emotional weight too. Over the course of three years, I lost 100 pounds. But what I truly shed was the version of me that didn’t know her worth.
That transformation was never just about my body. It was about reclaiming my power. I started modeling—not because I wanted to fit into anyone’s mold—but because I finally saw myself. I wanted the world to see me too. I wanted other women to know that you can celebrate yourself right in the middle of your healing. You don’t have to wait until you “arrive.”
My journey to self-love didn’t start with a mirror. It started with survival. I got pregnant with my daughter Ella Rose during my junior year of college. I was determined not to become a statistic. I was going to finish what I started, for her and for me. I worked two jobs, took 18 credit hours, and cried more nights than I can count. But I graduated on time with my Bachelor’s in English from the University of Kentucky, walking across that stage with my daughter in my arms and my future in front of me.
Life didn’t slow down after that. I kept pushing. Kept dreaming. Even when things got heavy. There were moments I wanted to quit, moments when being a mom, a wife, a student, and an employee all at once felt like too much. But I didn’t. I kept going. I went back to school while raising two kids and working full time, and I earned my Master of Science in Information Communication Technology. I’m so proud of that. Not just because of the degree, but because of what it represents—resilience, ambition, and belief in something bigger.
And through it all, I created The Self Love Suite. Not just as a business, but as a safe space. A space for women like me, who have been through hell and still choose softness. Who are still healing, but still showing up. My self-love workbook was born from the very practices that saved me. It’s my heart on paper, and it’s already helping so many women rediscover theirs.
I’ve had to overcome a lot. From postpartum depression, to weight gain, to questioning my worth in silence. From starting over after setbacks, to carrying responsibilities that felt too heavy to bear. But through it all, I kept choosing me.
What I want the world to know is that you don’t have to be perfect to be powerful. You don’t have to have it all figured out to be worthy. And no matter what you’ve been through, you are still deserving of a life that feels like love.
The Self Love Suite is more than a brand. It’s my story. My healing. And my offering to every woman out there who’s still trying to find her way.
You’re not alone. You’re not too late. And you’re not too broken.
You’re becoming.
And that’s more than enough.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to Atlanta, I’d show them the perfect mix of vibes, flavor, and fun. We’d start with seafood at The Boiler, then hit up Knife or The Continent for a luxe dinner experience. We’d explore the BeltLine, brunch at Ponce City Market, and check out the Trap Music Museum for culture. For nightlife, we’d vibe at places like Rock Steady, Suite Lounge, or Boogalou. And of course, we’d end with a Sunday brunch at Toast on Lenox. Atlanta’s got it all… good food, great energy, and unforgettable memories.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I have to give all the glory and honor to God. Without His grace and guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today. He’s my foundation, my strength, and the reason I keep going even when the road gets tough.
I also want to dedicate this shoutout to my two greatest inspirations, my children, Ella Rose and Nicholas. They are my heartbeat and my “why.” Every goal I set and every milestone I reach is rooted in my desire to create a better future for them. They push me to be stronger, wiser, and more grounded in my purpose.
To my husband, Courtney Miggins, thank you for always riding with me, even when my dreams sound a little wild. Your support means everything. You believe in me in ways that sometimes I forget to believe in myself, and I’m forever grateful for that.
A special shoutout to my foundation.. my parents, Octavia Moore and Page Kennedy, and my Nana, Pamela Harris. The love, values, and wisdom you’ve poured into me over the years have shaped the woman I am today. Your sacrifices, encouragement, and unwavering belief in me continue to carry me through life’s highs and lows.
To my sister Aldricqua,
I love you deeply and I’m so grateful for always having you by my side. We’ve been friends for over a decade, but by now, it’s so much more than that — you’re my sister in every way that matters.
And last but certainly not least, my amazing cheer mom tribe: Taneka, Jessica, and Margo(aka bestie). We met through our daughters doing all-star cheerleading, but what we built goes far beyond the cheer mat. You ladies have become my sisters and best friends, always lifting me up with encouragement and reminding me of my power, especially when I need it most.
This journey isn’t just mine, it’s a reflection of everyone who’s ever poured into me. I’m so grateful for the village that i have behind me.
