We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamar And Melody Hayes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamar and Melody, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Both my husband and I are no strangers to the entrepreneurial world. As a married couple, we’ve always had the mindset of being a power couple. But low and behold, we didn’t realize that building our own brand together would be the true connection.

Now the real work begins—we’ve come to see that each of us brings a unique model for success. Through this journey, we recognized our individual strengths and weaknesses and created a concept that works for us.

Today, we’re proud to say we’ve reached our one-year milestone with our wine brand A Glass of Love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are a husband-and-wife team and a proudly African American-owned wine brand based in the Atlanta area. As we navigated through the process, we quickly realized there was so much to learn—it honestly had our heads spinning at times. Just when we thought we had reached the finish line, another step would pop up that needed our attention.

But through it all, both my husband and I were determined to WIN.

This journey has been full of teachable moments, and we’ve truly embraced the learning process. What intrigued us most was the behind-the-scenes experience of winemaking—we fell in love with it.

Our wine brand is built on a love story. Every bottle tells its own tale—uniquely crafted to deliver the perfect taste for a memorable moment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend were visiting the area, we’d make sure to enjoy some of the great local restaurants, take them to Ponce City Market, and catch a show at City Winery. Of course, we couldn’t skip Saturday brunch, and if the timing was right, we’d end the day with a concert at an amphitheater. It all depends on when they’re in town!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow, we are truly grateful for our community—friends, clients, family, and new connections—who have shown us so much love and support. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them.
