Hi Jada, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Keeping God first is the foundation of my life and everything I do. It shapes my decisions, guides my actions, and keeps me grounded in both my personal and professional endeavors. This principle reminds me to approach every situation with faith, integrity, and gratitude, knowing that my purpose is bigger than myself. By prioritizing my relationship with God, I am able to remain focused, humble, and aligned with my values, no matter the challenges I face

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, Jayslayedthat LLC, is all about elevating the loc care experience. I specialize in starter locs, mature locs, loc styles, repairs, and protective styles over locs, offering a luxurious and personalized approach to my clients. What sets me apart is my commitment to quality, innovation, and education. From custom treatments to hydration products, I focus on maintaining healthy locs while providing a relaxing, high-end experience.

Getting to where I am today has been far from easy. Starting as a young entrepreneur, I faced challenges like building a client base, perfecting my craft, and managing the business side of things. Through determination, continuous learning, and staying true to my values, I’ve turned those challenges into growth opportunities. I’ve learned the importance of consistency, patience, and listening to clients’ needs.

I’m most proud of the impact I’ve made in my community, not just through my services but by educating others and inspiring them to embrace their loc journey. My brand is rooted in passion, faith, and creating meaningful connections. I want the world to know that Jayslayedthat isn’t just about locs—it’s about empowerment, self-expression, and redefining beauty standards one loc at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d take them to my favorite vegan restaurant—Planta for great food and vibes, explore a local art museum, and spend a day at the beach relaxing or kayaking. We’d visit unique markets, enjoy live music at a cozy spot, and wrap it up with a spa day for some much-needed self-care. It’s all about mixing fun, culture, and relaxation!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my grandma. She’s been my biggest supporter and inspiration throughout my journey. Her wisdom, strength, and unwavering faith have shaped me into the person I am today. She’s taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance, and keeping God first, no matter the challenges. Her love and encouragement have been a constant source of motivation, and I’m forever grateful for the role she’s played in my story. She’s only of the reasons I am where I am today.
