Meet Tatyana Billingsley | Realtor & CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatyana Billingsley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tatyana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was the idea of freedom , helping others and more money. When I was in college , I saw a problem and the business that I created which was hair extensions was the solution. Due to us being in a more rural city than the city that i was from , the girls were not able to access their extensions the same so I figured by me solving that problem I was helping my peers and creating financial freedom for myself. As I got older and graduated college , I realized that entrepreneurship was the key to financial freedom and I’ve done it ever since. I wouldn’t trade having my own business for working for someone else full time any day. I love the idea of building up something that’s mine to be bigger than ever and helping others while doing so.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a realtor and ceo of a hair company as well a credit repair company. I started off only selling hair extensions when I was in college and then after I graduated I went from not only selling hair but to also becoming a realtor / credit repair specialist here in GA! What sets me apart from others is just my ability to really connect to my clients and customers on a deeper level than them just being clients / customers to me. I make everyone feel like I’ve known them for years and make them feel like they are apart of me because they are. Anyone who supports my business and becomes a client or customer to me does become apart of me and that’s where I feel like I differ from many others. How I got to where I am is just from staying consistent and never giving up. It has been super challenging just from having horrific personal things happening to me during the course of this journey as a realtor and ceo . I literally hit rock bottom a few times from experiencing death and heartache and had to build myself back up , start over and more . I learned that as an entrepreneur my mental health is very important. Whenever my mental was affected my business plummeted. I’ve learned to take care of me first so that I can properly be there for my business and keep myself afloat. I want the world to know that this journey hasn’t been easy but I keep going because I owe it to myself and my family to do so. I will never give up on my dreams and goals and I urge others never to give up either.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best-friend visits me in Atlanta, we would catch a movie at IPIC theater , catch a basketball game at state farm arena and just hang out. I love to try new places to eat so we would find new restaurants to try, new activities to do , etc. I’m a simple girl that likes to do simple things if I’m not traveling.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to all of the successful African American entrepreneurs that I follow and know that’s constantly setting the bar! Just to name a few , I would say Quiana Watson of Watson realty co , Monaebusinessco and so many more are huge inspirations to me! Their ability to show up as experts in their marketplaces and make it look easy is amazing and I love to see it!
