We had the good fortune of connecting with Prep And Reflect Llc Erin Waxenbaum And Alyson Jarvis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Prep and Reflect LLC, what do you want your legacy to be?
Erin: My legacy is rooted in helping others, particularly when it comes to mental health. From the beginning of my career as a teacher, I’ve always wanted to make a difference by supporting children in their emotional and mental well-being. In the classroom, I strived to incorporate practices like meditation, organization, and conflict resolution to create a space where students could thrive emotionally, not just academically.

Since leaving the classroom, my goal has expanded to reach even more people through the products we create and the message we share about being mindful and intentional. I want to be remembered as someone who made a positive impact on others’ mental health, helped people navigate life’s challenges with a sense of calm and preparation, and provided tools to help people reflect and grow.

Alyson: For me, family and community is paramount. I want my family and immediate community to be able to see the help and support I give. Whether it’s cooking a family meal or giving advice to a friend, I want to be someone that my immediate circle feels safe to turn to.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2023, we had a simple but meaningful idea: to create fun, straightforward journals and planners designed for busy people who want to slow down, prep and reflect, and make lasting memories.

It all started with our search for a daily journal for our young children—something simple, quick to use, and impactful. When we couldn’t find exactly what we were looking for, we decided to create it ourselves.

As moms and former teachers, we both share a passion for planning and a deep understanding of how quickly time flies. We know how important it is to hold onto memories and traditions. Every journal and planner we design is meant to help people do just that—whether it’s through meditation, organizing thoughts, or spending quality time with loved ones to create new memories together.

Erin: I am a former classroom teacher with degrees from Boston College’s Lynch School of Education and Human Development and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Now a stay-at-home mom to two young kids—a daughter and a son—I continue to focus on whole-child development, both academically and socially-emotionally. My experiences in education and parenting have inspired me to create tools that help people prepare for what’s ahead while thoughtfully reflecting on the past.

Alyson: I am a mom of two, a former art teacher and travel coordinator, and currently work as a photographer. With my creative background and love of planning, I am all about finding ways to make life’s chaos more manageable while creating meaningful moments along the way.

Together, we are on a mission to help people live more intentionally and mindfully through our products. What started as a need for a simple, impactful journal for kids has grown into a full line of journals and planners for adults too—perfect for capturing milestones, exploring hobbies, and more.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love travel and a good itinerary! We may have something in the works for an early 2025 release that would be able to help finalize any traveling plans such as a trip to Atlanta. However, for a friend’s first time in Atlanta, an itinerary would need to include spots like the Botanical Gardens and High Museum of Art, and definitely shopping around Buckhead. And of course for meals, breakfast would have to happen at R. Thomas at least once, and dinner at Taka Sushi or Marcel.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The most important factor behind our success has been our support system. Our husbands have been incredibly encouraging every step of the way, cheering us on as we navigate the challenges of running our own company. Their belief in us has given us the confidence to keep moving forward, even when things feel overwhelming.

Equally important is the support we’ve received from the Prep and Reflect community. The people who have purchased our products, shared their feedback, and recommended us to their friends and family are truly the heart of our brand. Their trust and enthusiasm mean the world to us, and we wouldn’t be here without them.
