We had the good fortune of connecting with Jametrial Baldwin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jametrial, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was, “ What can I do, that even if I do not get paid, I’d still enjoy?” It took me 6 years of trial and error, consistency, determination, and patience with myself to get that answer. It was not until I submitted my life to God and joined and start serving at “THE” Hub Southwest, that I rekindled my love for photography. It has been a blessing ever since to build my relationship with the lense, along with other gifts that were brought back to life. Matthew 6:33

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I must say that in all that I have put my hands on, my art has not been your ordinary work. For a while I saw it as imperfect, but photography has shown me that since the very first business that I have pursued, it was not imperfection, it was uniqueness. I have an eye for vintage, abstract, and boho style art that in which reflects my organic aesthetic. I will never be the same as any other artist and that does not me lesser or greater than anyone and I am proud of that.
I knew that I was an entrepreneur when I actually sat back and evaluated how much time and love that I have put into each and every one of my businesses since 2018. With that being said daily growth, confirmation in taste per client, and the favor from listening and following God’s instructions excites me and fuels me to keep at what I love.

God knew exactly what he was doing when he sent the pandemic. It birthed out so many entrepreneurs and im proud to be one of them. During that time, I lost everything from my car, my jobs, and my son Braylen Zaire. Through that God never left me and pushed me even during the darkest days to make ends meet. I jumped from hustle to hustle to make it work and stay busy so that grief did not kill me. The sum of all of that made me a Loctician, owner of my own skin and hair care line, content creator, custom crafter, photographer, and most importantly a kingdom builder. It definitely was not easy, but God always gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers! Im so grateful to be considered and chosen by God. Job 13:15
Along this beautiful journey I have learned that perfection is impossible but growth occurs daily. The only thing that truly works and prospers is prayer and purity. I’ve learned how to love everyone no matter their upbringing, ethnicity, religion, beliefs, gender, or past. I’ve learn how to forgive. I must say out of all things, I have 100% learned how to lean and depend on God and God only.

If I could tell anyone about Flash of Grace, Good Healthy Hair, and Good healthy Jb, I would tell them that all of my businesses are built on the foundation of prayer, meditation, and the word of God. We vow that in all the art that we produce, it is produced out of 100% love, 100% commitment, and 100% GOD. I truly love what I do and no matter if I only have 1 supporters and 1 million, I will always do what I love and what pleases God.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To know me is to know, im going to go skate! So for just a day of fun, I would take my best friend to the skating rink. For a week of fun, I would plan for a trip back to Chicago or any place in Florida with a nice beach (I LOVE me a good condo or airbnb with a nice beach view.) The first meal that would hit my spirit is a good ole seafood boil, pasta, or a nice juicy steak.
As crazy as it sounds, a train ride in Chicago is one of the most peaceful experiences I’ve ever sat through.
Also, my church is interesting! Im not just saying this because I’m a member, I just have never experienced church like “THE” Hub Southwest. To have fun and be in a nonjudgmental space is unusual when it comes to church, but my church is that space, so I’d recommend anyone to visit The Hub…. Just make sure you come prepared to go up!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I want to give honor to my God, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that have brought me out of death and through life time and time again. Major shoutout to my prayer warrior and Mother Beverly Baldwin. Her shelf prayers has brought me through periods of isolation and being lost, especially after losing my son in 2021. I also want to recognize my brother and father James Baldwin Sr. and Jr, and uncles Joseph and Rodney Paschal who have always believed that there was something in me that would be stirred by God and made great. Last but most certainly not least, my house of refuge, “THE” Hub Southwest. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my leaders all the way down to the congregation for taking me in and loving me in such short time. I will always give credit to my Leaders Prophet Elijah Griggs and Pastor Kadijah Griggs for allowing me an opportunity weekly to grow in more than just photography. Also my sister in Christ Dee Colbert for blessing me with my newest camera that has brought me many opportunities in my community. It truly does take a village not only to raise a child but to hold you up as you birth your purpose. I thank God everyday for my experience with everyone that has trusted me with opportunities, ministered and Prophesied to me, and kept me encouraged. To know entrepreneurship is to know cycles of fatigue, but with a support system like mine, theres no giving up!
