We had the good fortune of connecting with Honey Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Honey, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
From an early age, creativity and passion were my driving forces. I was always involved in various activities—sports like softball and basketball sparked my competitive spirit, but I yearned for a deeper outlet. The artistic realm felt like the perfect fit, where I could truly express myself.
Whether I’m walking the runway, performing as an actress, writing compelling stories, or designing striking fashion, each role is a thrilling opportunity to share my vision. For me, these aren’t just pastimes; they are vital parts of my identity.
Choosing a creative career was a natural step in my journey. It’s where I can merge my talents and explore new avenues of expression. This vibrant world fuels my passion and inspires me to push boundaries. Ultimately, creativity isn’t merely my profession; it defines who I am. It’s a fulfilling adventure that invites others to join in and discover their own artistic paths.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an artist, I embrace a blend of modeling, acting, and poetry that truly reflects who I am. Growing up in Baltimore, I struggled to find clothing that fit my long physique and was unique in style, but that only fueled my passion for fashion. I’ve learned to infuse classic pieces with my own flair, creating looks that resonate with authenticity. This journey wasn’t without its challenges—shyness initially held me back, but I chose to break free from my comfort zone. Each runway show and creative project has taught me resilience and the importance of self-expression.
One of my proudest achievements is launching my clothing line, Raw by Honey the Artis’, or simply RBH designz, with a “z”, showcasing designs that not only highlight my creativity but also tell stories from my life. Collaborating with other artists has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to connect with diverse perspectives.
My goal is to inspire others, especially young adults, to embrace their individuality and pursue their passions fearlessly. I want the world to know that art isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about sharing experiences and connecting deeply with others. Every piece of work I create carries a piece of my journey, and I hope it encourages others to explore their own paths in the fashion and entertainment industry.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Thanks for asking about my dream week-long itinerary for my best friend visiting Atlanta. I’m all about a mix of creative expression, good food, and chill vibes. So, we’ll mix it up a bit.
On the first day, we’ll start the week off by grabbing a bite at Slutty Vegan. I love their plant-based burgers, and it’s the perfect way to introduce your taste buds to vegan goodness. After that, we’ll chill at Piedmont Park and enjoy the beautiful greenery and outdoor activities.
Day two, we’ll visit the High Museum of Art to get inspired by their beautiful exhibits. Next, we’ll head to SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film to appreciate the intersection of fashion and cinema. After, we’ll hang out at the Krog Street Market for dinner, because not only is their food good but they also house, great local shops.
I was thinking, day three, we’ll visit the Atlanta School of Photography for a photography workshop, where we can learn new techniques and capture the beauty of Atlanta. Later that night we’d do a poetry workshop at the Java Monkey Speakeasy, EuroAtlanta, or another open mic spot. As an artist, I love expressing myself through poetry, and this is a fun way to get in touch with our creative sides.
Day four, we’ll spend the day playing pickleball at one of Atlanta’s many courts. After working up an appetite, we’ll grab dinner at a local gem, The Vortex. I love their food!
Day five, we are definitely going to give a visit to the selfie museums around the city. I mean, I’m a model. Gotta get in that photo opp. We’ll chill at my house after that, listen to music, eat a meal prepared by yours truly and vibe out.
Day six, we’re catching a movie at IPIC. Enjoy a luxurious theater experience with comfy seats and snacks, snacks, snacks. For dinner, we’ll visit Life Bistro, because they have incredible vegan dishes.
Day seven, we’ll wing it. I don’t usually plan out things in this much detail, I usually have an idea of what I want to do and if it happens, it happens, if not, it was still a great day!!
Of course, we’ll do more or less but in a perfect world, this would be the perfect trip for me and my bestie.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely, I couldn’t have made it this far without my incredible support system. My family has always been my rock, cheering me on through every twist and turn. Friends who inspire me and keep me grounded play a huge role too. And of course, I have to give a huge shoutout to my manager, Tony. He’s not just a mentor; he’s the one who believed in my vision and helped shape it into something real. Together, they’ve helped me navigate this wild journey, and I’m forever grateful for their love and encouragement.
