We had the good fortune of connecting with Hanna Akpan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hanna, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Atlanta, a city that’s deeply shaped my identity and approach to life. Growing up here as a Black woman, I was surrounded by rich culture, resilience, and a strong sense of community. Atlanta taught me the value of celebrating who you are, embracing your roots, and holding space for others. My upbringing emphasized hard work, kindness, and faith, which has become the foundation of my “Hanna from Atlanta” brand. I’m passionate about wellness, creativity, and helping others find flow in their own lives because I’ve seen firsthand how transformative those values can be. Atlanta’s influence is woven into everything I do, from my content to how I connect with people.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art revolves around storytelling, wellness, and creating spaces for Black women to find balance and flow in their lives. What sets me apart is my ability to combine personal authenticity with intentional creativity, whether I’m sharing a wellness tip, documenting a pivotal moment, or reflecting on life lessons through my ‘Finding Flow’ series.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. It took embracing my own challenges—grief, self-discovery, and navigating corporate spaces as a Black woman. Along the way, I learned that growth comes from showing up for yourself consistently and building systems that support your vision, a lesson inspired by Atomic Habits by James Clear.

What I’m most proud of is my ability to connect with others through my content. Whether it’s a YouTube video on wellness, a TikTok about navigating life, or a podcast focused on Black women’s experiences, I aim to create content that uplifts and inspires.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to trust the process and allow space for evolution. Creativity isn’t about perfection; it’s about persistence and intention. What I want the world to know is that ‘Hanna from Atlanta’ is a brand that celebrates authenticity, growth, and community, all while encouraging others to prioritize themselves and live life on their own terms.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Atlanta, I’d craft an itinerary that captures the essence of the city—vibrant, creative, and full of culture.

We’d kick things off at The Works, a dynamic spot where we could explore the food hall, enjoy some incredible bites, and even get a little creative work done in the inspiring atmosphere. From there, we’d head to Dancing Goats Coffee on North Avenue, just steps from Ponce City Market. It’s the perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee or tea and soak in the contemporary vibes.

For some outdoor fun, we’d take a walk on the Atlanta Beltline, one of my favorite places to experience the city’s energy and connect with its people. It’s a great spot to enjoy the sunshine, see local art, and maybe grab a drink along the way.

Another must-visit is Switchyards, a coworking space that I adore. It’s not just a workspace; it’s a hub for connecting with the creative and entrepreneurial community in Atlanta. Spending time there would give my friend a true sense of the city’s innovative spirit.

Of course, we’d sprinkle in visits to some iconic Atlanta spots like Ponce City Market, Piedmont Park, and maybe a late-night adventure in the lively Old Fourth Ward. My goal would be to show them the heart of Atlanta—the perfect balance of work, play, and connection.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to two major influences that have shaped my journey this year: Atomic Habits by James Clear and the vibrant Atlanta community. The book taught me the power of small, intentional steps, which has been instrumental in helping me find structure and consistency in both my creative and professional life. Alongside that, events like the SUPERCREATIVE conference by Blynk Social, Friendsgiving by Kyndal Jackson, and Praise in the Park by Renowned Bod have given me opportunities to connect with inspiring individuals and deepen my sense of belonging. These experiences remind me of the transformative power of both personal growth and community support.
