We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Kaye Hunter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydney Kaye, why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided to pursue an artistic and creative career because of my upbringing. Growing up in a household where my mom listened to mostly R&B, jazz/blues, and hip-hop; my dad listened to rock ‘n’ roll, blues, pop. A lot of my love for music and influence for music comes from my parents.

From car rides to Mississippi, listening to artist like Lloyd, Erykah Badu, India Irie, OutKast, & Amel Larrieux

To my father, doing my hair to artist like Bob Marley, Prince, B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an independent artist from Atlanta Georgia. The way I got to where I am today was consistency, stepping out of my comfort zone, and having confidence in myself.
No, it was not easy and it has not been easy and I know the journey will not be easy but the point isn’t for it to be easy. The point is to enjoy the journey.
The way I’ve overcome challenges is praying and keeping my faith. Keeping a cool calm and collected mind to be able to come up with solutions when problems arise
I want the world to know that the music for me comes from my soul, and sometimes the pain in my heart but overall a beautiful genuine place.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love going to the high museum, they have beautiful and intriguing exhibitions every month.

Botanical garden is always a beautiful place to go, especially during the holidays

Centennial Park is a scenic place to go walking, or have a picnic

Piedmont Park is my favorite place to host sip & paint parties/picnics

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
my mother, my father, my family because they are my support system. Really all of my loved ones because they are the reason I do what I do. And once I do make it and become who I am becoming, I will take care of them because I want to see them living the lives They want.
