Meet Vincent Alberico: Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vincent Alberico and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vincent, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
1. It’s in my blood. Small family run businesses were where I spent my childhood. I never thought twice about driving around with my grandfather to his meetings, assembling furniture in my mother’s mattress store, or cleaning the kitchen of my uncle’s pizzeria. I was taught hard work from a young age. My mother, Rebecca opened Sleepworld, a traditional mattress shop in Asheville, NC in 2002 and I assisted her in growing her business. Over the years, I flirted with the idea of taking a corporate job, but the ability to help my family and contribute to the business won out. 2. A great idea. I decided that a new type of mattress showroom needed to be developed. I wanted to create a relaxing environment that featured the finest mattresses available in the world. I wanted a mattress showroom that offered luxury and organic mattresses under one roof giving clients convenience and quality offerings. I spent years exploring and testing the worlds finest brands before settling on the line up. Each brand incorporates different methods for construction and unique design elements. These subtle nuances can affect the overall feeling and quality of sleep for a client. 3. Finding the right location. I concluded that Atlanta would be the perfect place for my mattress concept so I packed up my wife and kids, signed the lease, and opened my first store. Natural Sleep Mattress & Organic Bedding quickly became the premium retailer for beds in Atlanta. 4. Culture of service. In five short years, we have built a solid reputation based on positive relationships. We focus on high quality experiences rather than high volume. This allows us to give our customers personalized attention. We understand that wellbeing is connected to the quality of your sleep, so we take our role very seriously. Because our mattress brands are so well known and synonymous with quality, they sell themselves. So, our role is to educate, inform, and support each client in selecting their perfect bed. 5. Growth Minded. The concept has proved so successful that in March of 2020, as my mother retired, her and I transitioned her store into another Natural Sleep Mattress & Organic Bedding. Now, customers in Asheville and surrounding areas like Greenville, Charlotte, and Knoxville are able to try and buy beds that until now have never been available to them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In addition to our world class brands outlined below, our showroom has become a destination shopping experience. We find that clients enjoy the convenience of scheduling a personalized appointment for their mattress fitting. We offer the best mattress in the world under one roof. We are proud to offer Hästens, Naturepedic, OMI mattresses and ViSpring which are a few of our top manufacturers that we offer at Natural Sleep Mattress & Organic Bedding. Hästens, which is a Swedish luxury mattress manufacturer that specializes in making mattresses made from horsehair, cotton, wool and flax. Designers love these beds for their clients because they can be customized in several different colors. Each one of their mattresses are handmade to order in Sweden. OMI mattress was the first mattress manufacturer to make certified organic mattresses in the U.S. They specialize in making natural rubber mattresses with sap from the rubber tree. OMI has the only Eco Cert mattress factory in the USA. Naturepedic specializes in organic mattresses that can be custom fit for each person depending on their coil tension or comfort layer preferences. These layered mattresses can be custom configured right in front of our clients in the showroom. ViSpring incorporates cashmere, horsehair, mohair, and fine tailoring for a luxurious and durable feel. All of our organic mattresses manufactures use GOTS certified cotton, GOLS certified latex and natural flame barriers. We also build custom sized mattress for our athletes and tall clients. We also carry an array of certified organic kid’s mattresses, cribs and luxury accessories including down duvets, pillows and linens.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is a city full of surprises. This is why visiting friends should always be open to spontaneity. Some of the must see items on my list to show off Atlanta would be: Sporting Events, (ATL UTD anyone)? Walking or Biking on the Beltline near Ponce City Market and Krog Street Market Browsing up and coming art galleries on the West Side Enjoying the scenery of Piedmont Park For eating and drinking: Kyma for their Achilles Heel cocktail, octopus, and whole fish Bronzino Umi for a refreshingly enjoyable sushi experience. Buttermilk Kitchen for breakfast (get the BELT).

Rebecca Alberico (my mom) taught me strong values of hard work, perseverance and love.
