We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Govantes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued tattooing as I was fascinated by it as a kid, that people would pay another to draw on someone. When I started my collection of tattoos I fell in love with the craft and history the industry has. That what we know as tattooing today was built on the backs of some hard workers whose art has lasted generations. It’s truly an inspiration to be surrounded by such brilliant and talented people!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
A lot about tattooing is way more complicated than some might think. The Main less I’ve learned through the years is that, less is more. It’s always a learning experience with any form of art.
I love doing anime and American Traditional tattoos, and painting tattoo designs with watercolors!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Places I’d recommend checking out is Jinya ramen spot, the aquarium and little 5 points. Six flags is here too, it’s a pretty cool park, and Helen has a dope lazy river definitely work checking out!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are countless people I want to thank, the many shops and artists who not only gave me the opportunity to work for them but were also willing to answer any and all questions I have had.
