We had the good fortune of connecting with Daphne Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daphne, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started Packing Pretty Firearms, LLC Four years ago to provide a safe space for the novice woman to learn about guns and gun safety. My thought process included all women to develop a training program that helps them get over their fears of guns so they’d have an open mind about the gun ownership process.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For the past 15 years, I’ve worked as a Biotechnology professional in Laboratory Diagnostic Sales for Women’s Health. What sets me apart from others is my ability to be an award winning sales professional by day, a wife, a mom, and a mentor for so many women seeking guidance on guns and gun safety in my spare time. It’s not easy because my work schedule is very rigorous and I also find the time to fit in community advocacy work as well. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is the mission is bigger than me, I’m just a conduit to help women reach and achieve their goals. I’ve overcome challenges of not having access to gun ranges by fostering and building relationships with gun range owners to help expose women to various gun ranges (indoor and outdoor). I’d like for the world to know that I really care about women no longer being victims of gun violence and providing a space for them to feel comfortable and confident about protecting themselves. I also want our community to educate our children about gun safety and that guns ARE NOT toys. We must teach our children to respect firearms, expose them to gun ranges, gun safety to help decrease the amount of gun accidents within our community.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First place I’d take them is to Tom Lowe’s Skeet Shooting Range for a fun day of skeet shooting. Next, I’d stop by Cigaros to have a quick smoke and drink. I’d arrange for us to have brunch at my favorite spot – Garden Parc ATL and we’d have to stop by Phipp’s for some quick shopping and head over to Eight Sushi for dinner.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shoutout all of the women (thousands) that have allowed me to teach them about guns and gun safety over the years. There are some women that have overcome being raped, brutally beaten by their significant other that mustered up the strength to face their biggest fears – guns. By allowing me to coach them through gun safety training and becoming responsible gun owners they have no idea how honored I am to be at the helm of this big decision. The Well Armed Women South Atlanta Chapter inspires me to continue to be their chapter leader to help educate, equip, and empower them on a monthly basis by providing continuous education opportunities. I’m equally honored to have the support of my family and my husband.
