We had the good fortune of connecting with Iggy Badd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Iggy, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am a rapper from Memphis, TN. Since a very young age, music has been my passion. With my father being a DJ, I was immersed in beats and rhythms whenever he took me to his studio. My journey continued as I was fortunate enough to attend Stax, the prestigious musical school in Memphis. This is where I honed my musical theory skills and discovered my love for rapping as a means of self-expression. After graduation, I worked in various jobs from construction to customer service and lost touch with making my own music. A few years ago, I relocated to Atlanta to focus primarily on my music. I have dedicated myself to expanding my musical knowledge and crafting lyrics that resonate with people from all over the world. My experience in the music industry influenced me to become as independent and resourceful as possible. To not be financially taken advantage of, I learned how to make my own beats and produce my own songs. Please stay tuned as I continue to evolve my individuality in the music industry.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What truly sets my music apart is the creative process behind it. I randomly hear songs in my head, and my task is to bring these songs to life. I have found that I am most passionate about the beat creation process as I craft unique rhythms that serve as the foundation of each track. I take pride in creating my own beats, ensuring that every song begins with a sound that resonates with my vision. However, my journey has not been without challenges. I learned very quickly that people in the music industry will try to take as much as they can from you, so I learned how to be self-sufficient. Learning to do everything independently—from beat making to writing compelling lyrics, editing music videos, and self-promotion—has been a significant part of my growth. Each song I produce is a reflection of my journey and embodies every aspect of my creative spirit. As I continue to evolve, my ultimate aspiration is for the world to recognize that when they listen to my music, they are hearing the sounds that initially sparked in my mind.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend and I both are foodies and enjoy gaming adventures, so I would create an itinerary combining good food, active fun, and nostalgic experiences. On Monday, if we had to pick a place for accommodation, it would be at the Glenn Hotel because I love the service and bartenders there. Later on, we would go to Battle and Brew for dinner, gaming, and to try their themed drinks. Tuesday, we would visit Andretti Indoor Karting to race each other, and we would later have dinner at Lifting Noodles Ramen in PH’EAST food hall. Wednesday would be more of a relaxing or exploring day; we would go to the Georgia Aquarium or picnic at Piedmont Park blasting our favorite jams. On Thursday, we would head to the Painted Pin for bowling with other friends and have lunch at Taco La Villa because they have the best authentic tacos. Friday, we would attend a Hawks game at the State Farm Area and afterwards bar hop in Buckhead. Saturday, we would explore Marietta Square and go to my favorite candy shop, Rocket Fizz. Finally, Sunday we would chill and maybe get our nails done at Luxx Nail Lounge.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A shout out to Stax for teaching me how to read and write music, how to play the piano and violin, and how to perform in front of an audience. I am thankful for having the same best friend, Shayla, since middle school, and for her always being there and supporting me. I am thankful for Q Management for providing the resources and guidance to be successful in my music career. Most importantly, I thank my fans (the Baddies)!
