We had the good fortune of connecting with Avnah Long and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Avnah, what do you attribute your success to?
There are many factors that contributed to the success of my brand. One of the most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is that I didn’t give up. The others are that I actually set up my businesses the right way as a a legitimate business. I didn’t just say I’m going to create this and put it out into the world as a business, which is a fault for most brands because it’s not protected in anyway. The most valuable factor in my business is that I pray over my businesses. I pray over my moves and I wait to receive the confirmation from God to see if this is the right thing to pursue, if it’s the right time and I pray for guidance as I elevate within my business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a Fashion designer, Master Cosmetologist and Hair & Skin product brand I am excited about our newest launch with Sevananda Natural Food Market in the heart of Atlanta. The product line AVNAH Organics is now available on store shelves to purchase from in Atlanta. It’s a full circle moment for me since I actually opened my first Salon in lil 5 points area and now the products are on the shelves right in the heart of the community. I’m very proud of that! I think when you work so hard as a business woman you rarely have time to sit with your accomplishments and really appreciate them. I’m learning to sit with the rewards of hard work and appreciate them, to give myself a Pat on the back and rest in the moment God has blessed me with.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m such a home body but when I do go out I like to enjoy myself with my family. So we may do family night at Ponce City Market, City Winery for live music and Nobu if your seeking a restaurant.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my husband Robert Long. We’ve been best friends since teenagers and he is the first person I sit down with to discuss business or potential plans. From the beginning he has always said whatever you want to do I’ll support you in that and he has. So every aspect of my business career Robert has been in the center of it in someway. He has also been able to provide a life for our family where focusing on my dreams and goals flow easy for me. So I’m very grateful to have a supportive husband who can give me a life of ease and flexibility as I build brands for the world, community and our family legacy.
