Meet Jessica Vicars | Founder, Confetti Jar

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Vicars and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As a busy mom of 3 kids under age 6, I know birthday party planning can be time consuming and stressful for parents. Parents spend weeks and months searching for birthday party ideas, then jumping around to different websites, asking in social media groups, making phone calls, and more to book and order everything for kids’ birthday parties. It is super time consuming, and I knew there had to be a better way!

After 15 years in marketing and product management (and now with 3 kids!), I decided it was time to start my own business that could solve the birthday party planning problem and allow me to focus on a space truly close to home in this stage of our family life. I wanted to build a destination that would simplify party planning for parents and help them create experiences that are truly memorable for their kids. After all, there are only so many birthday parties to celebrate when they are little – so we help parents make each one extra special!

What should our readers know about your business?
Confetti Jar is the ultimate resource in Atlanta for parents to find and book everything for kids’ birthday parties! From the best party places to fun and unique entertainment, rentals, bakeries, decorations, and more – local parents can find and book it all from Confetti Jar. Our goal is to make party planning easier for local Atlanta parents. Typically, when planning birthday parties, parents will spend weeks or even months trying to find ideas, asking in multiple social media groups, checking with friends, then bouncing around to multiple websites, calling around… so much time! And then to find right just the right bakeries, local businesses for decorations… it really is quite time consuming for busy parents.

We all want to create those memorable experience for our children. I really love that our business makes it easier for parents to do that. We help parents create truly special celebrations for their kids in a way that is easier, less time-consuming, and more fun!

What sets apart is that we focus specifically on parties for kids around Atlanta. We are creating a community and a brand that is uniquely for kids and families in our area. Every time I talk to parents about the concept – they absolutely love it! Parents are excited to have a single destination to find everything they need for parties for kids.

We also support local businesses by connecting them with more parents, so they can book more parties and events. One of the things I have loved most about starting Confetti Jar has bene getting to know so many of the incredible small business owners around Atlanta. I am just blown away by not only their creativity, but their enthusiasm for creating amazing experiences and celebrations for kids. They inspire me every day!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have lived in Atlanta for 16 years and love this city! There is so much to do! We have kids and visitors often have children as well. So, in the spirit of my brand, I’ll share some of our favorite kid-friendly locations. Some of our favorite restaurants to take the kids include Superica, Verde, or Antico Pizza. Make a stop at the Zoo and the Aquarium. Take them to a Friday evening Braves game and fireworks. Go for a hike and check out the waterfall at the Roswell Mill. Take them to play at the Roswell Area Park. Get some ice cream and play in the fountains in Downtown Alpharetta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely my husband and three kids! My husband, Buck, is always by my side, supporting me through all of life’s ups and downs. He believes in me and supports my dreams, while also helping me ensure we have balance at home and can both give our best to our families and careers.

My kids are my inspiration every day for Confetti Jar! They love to have fun, laugh, and celebrate; and now we get to explore new ways to do that together. They like coming with me to visit kids’ party venues around Atlanta or offer ideas for birthday party themes. Being in the kids’ party space also provides a constant reminder to celebrate with my kids! At Confetti Jar, we talk a lot about celebrating special moments and I love that reminder for my family, as well. We celebrate the wins, big and small, so that we truly enjoy this stage of life.
