We had the good fortune of connecting with Tislum Jiarai and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tislum, how do you think about risk?
I encourage risk taking! You are going to take a risk EVERYDAY one of two ways; consciously or subconsciously. For example, sitting in a chair is a risk we take subconsciously. If the chair breaks; you fall. If you fall; you get back up. What happens next? You take another risk by sitting in another chair. I apply that analogy to life. I took a risk starting my business, but it was consciously. I chose to take the risk because I rather be aware of the risk I’m taking. I’ve fell a few times, but I knew that came with it! I got back up, took the risk again and MADE IT HAPPEN!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Understanding art is to understand hair. My hands are the brush as your hair is my canvas. I truly enjoy what I do. Especially because I’m versatile. It’s easy being good at one thing, but imagine being able to do a bit of everything! That’s the real challenge! Since I’ve began doing hair, I’ve learned so much from techniques to content to even being a therapist! The ones that get it; get it.

I want the world to know my story isn’t perfect, but who wants to watch a movie without ups and downs. I’ve came a long way and this is just the beginning! Stay tuned!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d probably start with nails and pedicures at CB Nails to get the good vibes for the week going. Brunch at Elite Lounge. Catch some scenery at Botanical Garden. Grab some drinks or shots at 656 Sports Bar & Grille (Specifically on a Tuesday lol). Walk around Truist park. Catch a great steak at Knife and I’d say party at Suite!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Grean Light Go by Author Tangela Huggins.
This book is actually written by my mom and in the 2nd chapter of the book; she speaks of a busy executive named “ Tislum “. Yes, ME! It was the biggest surprise ever! The character in the book was literally the story of my life and she must have known I needed it. It’s had such a huge impact on my life because it taught me how to remove and replenish. Thanks Mom!
