We had the good fortune of connecting with Katrina Volgina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katrina, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I don’t believe in balance between business and life. I change hats. Once wear a business owner hat – I give it 100%. Coming home – I am a mom there – also 100%. When I coach kids – 100% goes there as well.
I don’t balance. I juggle roles through the day. It has to do with planning and discipline as well as “changing radio station” and be able not to bring personal issues to work and vise versa. It is very important to me not to try to “balance” it all, instead plan your day and stick to it. Much easier and much more concentration when it is planned.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business- is Ballroom Dancing! Very excited but yet a very small niche in business world. I am very proud to be the one who build Volga Dance Academy to popularize our unique sport for American and International community. It is very important to know that Ballroom Dancing has significant improvement on people’s lives and health. That is why it is important for everyone to dance! I also have a huge purpose and am doing my best for our communities to be able to dance! Besides the studio we also creat a non profit org to help Youth to develop life skills through Ballroom. It was not an easy ride, but somehow we made it for the past 10 years!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
High Museum of Art – I am a patron there and I currently study art, so can give some lectures to people and make it fun!

Volga Dance Academy for social night – we would dance Cha Cha and sip wine

Botanical Garden – no word needed – beautiful place and definitely worth seeing.

Bistro Niko for drink and dinner in the evening!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In general I have a lot of coaches and supporters. One of the big figures for me as well is Jake Mazhar, Cool Air Mechanics! Always on board with us and always helping!
Boryana Todoroff is my realstate agent who is also a core for my business
