Meet Corie Messer & Erica Ages | Co-Owners & Artists

We had the good fortune of connecting with Corie Messer & Erica Ages and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Corie Messer & Erica Ages, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind our success as a brand is our desire to ensure our Artists and our clients always feel seen, heard, and represented. Our team of Makeup + Hair Artists have been hand-selected, mentored, and supported by us for many years. With that mentorship, we build our brand motto into their artistry, to make sure every client that sits in a chair with us, feels like the best version of themselves for their big day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our company is heavily art focused! We are set apart from the rest because we fully celebrate our own authentic and distinctive artistry styles and personalities within our culture. We also embrace each client’s unique beauty through their individual complexion, features, and aesthetics. Our clients thoroughly trust us with their looks because they know we will listen and deliver exactly what they are looking for even if it’s off-beat.
Our brand identity is being able to mold and shape with our client’s preferences without swaying them to conform to societal beauty and traditional standards. Co-Owners: Erica and Corie, both had independent careers before meeting. Once they met, fate would have it, they joined forces to create what is now Vigilante Cosmetics. Transparently, it was fairly easy because we shared so many like-minded visions for our future together. Organically, the team and support continued to grow each year and navigate seamlessly through each year’s trends and challenges.
The major lessons we have learned is to really be invested whole heartedly in everything we do and every interaction with our team, clients, vendors, and supporters. We would love for everyone to understand how deeply we care about the way our services impact each person’s core beliefs and thoughts on how they see their own beauty.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are typically in the city for work but some of our fun spots in and around would be Cafe Intermezzo, Buttermilk Kitchen, or Ria’s Bluebird Cafe for breakfast. Then work your way over to Krog Street for all the beautiful graffiti art and food selections! You could always hop over to Centennial Olympic Park for a walk or just to admire the views of the skyline or nature. By evening, you could end your night on the rooftop of Ponce City Market for drinks and games, or even stop by Tiny Lou’s at Hotel Clermont for more mischievous views (wink wink).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to dedicate our success to our full team of amazing, empowering, talented Makeup + Hair Artists that dedicate their long hours, energy, and skill building into their craft and our wonderful clients.
