We had the good fortune of connecting with Debbie Graham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Debbie, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
A favorite quote of mine is “If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you will never get it done.”

This means if you have an idea, don’t overthink it, pursue that idea and see what happens. Take risks. Life can sometimes be very mundane if you do not take risks. Thinking this way helps me to challenge myself and when I do so, I experience growth.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Although I continue to work in Corporate, my art is the balance I need to enjoy life to its fullest. As someone who started out as a deejay just for fun, I have grown this hobby into a thriving business which has allowed me to travel all over the world. This has not been an easy journey and still has its challenges, however, the passion I have for music has presented so many opportunities that I have continued to stay busy.

Besides networking with like-minded people, I have continued to extend my reach by entering into the world of music production. This is a very new venture, approximately 1 year, but I have been receiving positive feedback from many in the music community whenever I have released music. As I continue on the production path, I am hoping this will present additional opportunities on the musical front.
Throughout my journey I also find ways to give back to the community, whether it is through mentoring new deejays or teaching classes to anyone who has been interested in learning the art.
I want to be seen as someone who always took the time out to guide others who shared the similar goals and want success for everyone.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a big lover of the arts, I enjoy visiting museums, going to the theater and concerts. I am also a vegan foodie, so going to experience new vegan restaurants in the Atlanta area is at the top of my list. If I were to set up an itinerary for anyone visiting, I definitely would take them to a few vegan restaurants throughout the week. Each restaurant choice would be based on the type of cuisine we were curious about on a particular day i.e. asian (Herban Fix), raw foods (Tasilli’s), mediterranean, (Cafe Agora) Indian (Bombay) etc.

Definitely trips to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, The Aquarium and The World of Coke are must sees for the Atlanta area. Hitting up the City Winery for a concert would also be on the to do list or going to support a fellow DJ who might playing an event that week would also be on the list of things to check out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents always encouraged me to dream big and to push myself to achieve whatever goals I had set in life. They always supported my art and saw the passion and dedication I had for it. Unfortunately, they are both deceased, but I can still hear their voices telling me to keep pushing, keep learning and continually set goals to keep growing.
