Choosing a favorite quote is always a bit challenging, but one that has resonated deeply with me is from ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’: ‘Beautiful things don’t ask for attention.’ As a cinematographer, this quote holds a special place in my heart because it beautifully captures the essence of my approach to filmmaking.

In the world of cinematography, where every frame is meticulously composed and crafted, there’s a profound beauty in capturing moments that speak for themselves without the need for overt attention. It speaks to the idea that sometimes, the most powerful and poignant scenes are the ones that unfold naturally, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in the emotion and storytelling without being forcefully guided.

For me, this quote extends beyond just the technical aspects of filmmaking. It serves as a reminder to take a step back from the camera and appreciate the beauty in the world around me. With an unwavering passion for the art of visual storytelling, my cinematic journey has traversed international borders, leaving an indelible mark on the digital landscape. Collaborating with influential figures such as Mr. Beast, Unspeakable, ExplodingTNT, and PippenFTS, my work on YouTube has amassed an impressive one hundred million views. This digital success has garnered attention from esteemed publications, including PCMagazine, GamesRadar, ScreenRant, Eurogamer, ByteSide, EssentiallySports, PCGamer, VG247, Digital Trends Español, and The Click. Within these features, my innovative approach to cinematic world-building has been recognized, showcasing a unique perspective that sets my work apart.

However, my artistic endeavors extend far beyond the internet. Over the past decade, I’ve immersed myself in acting, voice-acting, and modeling for renowned companies such as WarnerBros. Discovery, NBC, Pepsi, Toyota, M&T Bank, Crest, and Giant. One of my absolute favorite spots in the city is Emmy Squared Pizza in West Midtown. This culinary gem stands out for its unwavering commitment to crafting well-made food using only the highest quality ingredients, creating a culinary experience that resonates with my passion for excellence. Emmy Squared is renowned for its Detroit-style pizzas, and the deep-dish delights they serve up are nothing short of spectacular.

It isn’t just a dining experience; it’s a celebration of well-crafted, indulgent delights. The cozy ambiance of the West Midtown location adds an extra layer to the enjoyment, making it a go-to spot for those seeking a culinary adventure in the heart of Atlanta. I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who appreciates the art of deep-dish Detroit-style pizzas and a dining experience that truly embraces the essence of well-made food.

In dedicating this article, there’s someone whose influence has been pivotal in shaping my journey as a cinematographer: my high school filmmaking teacher, Robert Giampapa. Mr. Giampapa not only imparted valuable knowledge but also instilled in me a passion for storytelling through the lens.

Under his guidance, I learned the art of visual storytelling and the technical intricacies of filmmaking. Giampapa’s dedication to nurturing creativity and encouraging a hands-on approach to learning laid the foundation for my journey into the world of cinematography. His mentorship not only provided me with the technical skills needed but also inspired a deep appreciation for the storytelling aspect of filmmaking.

In the bleak, rotting, and fentanyl-filled landscape of West Potomac High School, TV & Media Production emerged as a rare oasis of creativity and encouragement.

Beyond the classroom, Robert’s entrepreneurial spirit has been a beacon of inspiration. As the owner of 2Up2Down Media, he exemplifies the possibilities that lie ahead in the world of videography.
