We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexia Boukou and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexia, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Over time, as a business owner and mom, my priorities evolved. I had to navigate the delicate balance by figuring out what works best for me. In my experience, achieving work-life balance isn’t a fixed formula; it’s about taking each day as it comes and adapting to the demands of both roles.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Owning Lexi Nails and Beauty has been a journey of passion and perseverance. What sets us apart is our dedication to uplifting women through personalized nail art and self-care. Despite lacking an art background, I’ve embraced a learning-by-doing approach, watching videos and staying inspired by fellow nail artists.

The road wasn’t easy (and it’s still not easy), especially without prior experience, but the key was tackling challenges one day at a time and giving myself the grace to learn. As a perpetual student, I continually explore new techniques to better serve my audience. Lexi Nails and Beauty offers a revolutionary alternative for women who may not enjoy traditional salons or lack time, providing an easy, at-home solution with press-on nails in just 10 minutes. Our brand is a testament to the transformative power of self-expression and self-care.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For an unforgettable week in the area, I’d start by taking the train to downtown Boston. We’d explore the scenic Boston Common, catching a basketball game and soaking in the lively atmosphere. Since it’s football season, a trip to see a game would be a must.

To satisfy our taste buds, we’d indulge in the culinary delights of downtown, with stops at places like “Buttermilk & Bourbon” or venture a bit outside Boston for more hidden gems. The mix of sports, scenic walks, and delicious dining would make for a perfect itinerary, creating lasting memories for my best friend’s visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A big shoutout goes to my friends, mentors, every client, prayer group, and my family. Their unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement have played a crucial role in my journey, contributing significantly to my success and where I am today.
