Hi shadell, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
When u have dreams a goals it’s hard because no one will see the purpose in it but you & God. God don’t give u the idea just to give up I’m not saying there wouldn’t be any setbacks along the way that’s going to make u want to quit but what I am saying is the same one I serve is going to give u the idea and the blueprint to execute it as well. It won’t be easy but don’t let your hard work go in vein,pray daily, get up everyday and give it your all.I wholeheartedly believe don’t quit although I want to several time a day lol but don’t quit i believe when things get hard u just have to change your approach,your delivery etc head back to the drawing board because the goal is always going to remain the same sometime u have to do things differently and that ok but don’t give up.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been a healthcare worker for quite some time now but I’ve always had a passion for makeup.as many may have herd u can become really Burnt out from healthcare so one day I decided that I’m not going to just keep saying it I’m going to take the necessary, steps to take my passion more seriously. I did my research and there wasn’t any school in my area that just teach makeup but there was an program that makeup fell under which was the esthetic program.i did not know much about estheticians or the program so I did somemore research into the program prayed on it and decided I was going to enroll in the program.At the time I just wanted to focus on just makeup but once I got into the program my new found love was waxing.I graduated in 2021 from EDGECOMBE community college esthetics program. I officially opened my very own and first salon Bare Elegance Beauty Bar on June 12,2022 two days after my 30th birthday and here I am today a wax specialist.I provide makeup services every now and then but 95 percent of my clients are for waxing.

One my biggest accomplishments is my salon because I did it when I though I couldn’t. opening my doors and almost 2 years later still open by the grace of God. I got my space and did renovations 8 1/2 months pregnant also being a mom to 4 other kids and still a full time healthcare worker.

Everyday is not a good day nor is it easy in my personal life or business life & 2023 the devil turned me every which way but loose when it came to my business but the God I serve is more powerful.i don’t think there was a day that went by that i did not revert back to Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.that scripture and amongst other things kept me going.

Staring my business I’ve learned so much about the business as well as myself and I always say the best teacher is experience good or bad. Iife is not always about what happened but how u handle what happens.in no way shape or form am I perfect and I do make mistakes but I am so proud of the women i have become because now i handle things so gracefully
Now, i let go when its time for things and people to be released, I apologize when i should and take accountability, learned everything and everyone don’t deserve a response and that alone is a recipe for greatness for my brand.i have so many great things in store for Bare Elegance i am very much excited.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Where I reside is very small and don’t have much to do in order to have some enjoyment u will have to go to Raleigh NC which is another city about 45 mins to a hr away. There they have a lot of great food spots and activities to enjoy.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost God but directly after my family,I listen to motivational speakers/pastors like td Jake’s, keion henderson,Mike jr, Eric Thomas, and of course my mentor Queta veale who is also licensed esthetician in the city I reside. They have pushed me especially on the days I have my doubts. They have spoke life into me and my business and I will forever be greatful for that
