We had the good fortune of connecting with Paola Camacho and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paola, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business was a lifelong dream fueled by a desire for creative and financial independence. As a content creator, I’ve always craved the freedom to express my ideas without constraints. Meeting my husband, Luis, who already had his business, Kaptura el Momento, in event photography and videography, inspired me to expand into the corporate and media realm, leveraging my experience in these areas. Together, we founded Kaptura Media, combining our strengths. This allowed us to maintain Luis’s focus on event capturing while exploring new opportunities in the corporate and media sector. Managing both Kaptura el Momento and Kaptura Media today, we enjoy a unique balance of capturing life’s moments and engaging in diverse media projects.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am immensely proud and excited about the journey I’ve undertaken as a professional and entrepreneur. It hasn’t been an easy path, but it’s been incredibly rewarding, and I feel blessed for the experiences it has brought me. My career began in Colombia, where I had already established myself in my field. However, one day, I decided to take a leap of faith and immigrate to a country where I had to start from scratch.

I firmly believe that the key to overcoming any challenge lies in perseverance and the conviction that we can achieve any goal we set for ourselves, regardless of language barriers, gender, or other obstacles. These barriers are often just mental, and once you’re convinced that you can overcome them, nothing can stop you. You can be an entreprenour, a professional, or whatever you want to be, even if you are a mom of a 5 year old.

A pivotal part of my journey has been my marriage to the best life partner and business associate one could ask for. Together, we have gradually grown our business. We are the perfect combination, and this is something our clients can sense. There’s a unique chemistry in our relationship, both personally and professionally, which translates into harmony with our clients.

I am also deeply grateful to MundoNow, the first media outlet that opened its doors to me in this country. They allowed me to showcase my work and trusted me to manage content targeted at the Hispanic community for major brands like Rocket Mortgage, McDonald’s, Crest, JPMorgan Chase, Coca-Cola, and GA Power, among others. Working alongside my husband, Luis Contreras, we have produced stories that earned us 5 Southeast Emmy Awards.

This journey has equipped me with invaluable tools that I apply to our business every day, ensuring its continued growth and success. I want the world to know that with perseverance, conviction, and the support of people who believe in you, any obstacle can be overcome, and dreams can be realized. My story is a testament to this belief, and I hope it inspires others to pursue their goals with unwavering determination.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since I am a mom of a 5 year old, I barely know family friendly places. A itinerary with me and my family would be something like this:

Food would be a very important part of the itinerary. I would include Korean BBQ, sushi, Thai food, pizza at Two Cities, and tacos at El Rey Del Taco. Also Colombian Desserts at Crepes y Fresas.

I would recommend spend a day at Six Flags, Visit Stone Mountain especially if your children are dinosaur’s fans.
Also, Taking a trip to Helen, GA to soak in the unique Bavarian-style atmosphere and enjoy local attractions.

Another place I recommend is the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Gibbs Garden for a peaceful day surrounded by lush landscapes and floral beauty. Gibbs Garden is amazing in Spring and fall, if you want to have a beautiful photoshoot.

Explore some family-friendly museums in the city, such as the High Museum of Atlanta and the Fernbank Museum.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Since I arrived in the United States from Colombia, it has been a journey of growth, strength, and blessings. It’s a path that hasn’t been easy, but along which I’ve had many angels guiding me. I dedicate this recognition to Amparo Jaramillo, an excellent life coach who also became my family when I needed it most. Also, to Ceata Lash for all her support and love towards my family and for believing in our talent. To MundoNow, who gave me the opportunity to grow professionally in this country, and especially to Luis Contreras, my husbans. He is not only my business partner but also my life partner, my constant support with whom I make my dreams come true day by day. Also I want to thank God for the blessing of giving me my 5 year old son Santiago, who inspires and motivates me every day. THANK YOU!

To my parents, your unwavering faith has shaped my confidence and dreams. Your guidance and love mean everything to me.

To my sister Carolina, you are not only my sister but an inspiration. I deeply admire your strength and cherish having you by my side. Your support is a treasure in my life.
