We had the good fortune of connecting with Dontavius Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dontavius, what are you inspired by?
To be honest, I feel that life is my biggest inspiration because wisdom has also been my biggest teacher. I find true happiness in seeing others overcome their struggles to find their purpose in life. Also being blessed with another day gives us a chance to be better than we were yesterday and for that I will always be grateful and remain inspired.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always had a passion for writing ever since I was like seventeen. I remember reading James Patterson, “Roses are red” and immediately fell in love with Alex Cross. Ironically, I felt like I understood him because there’s never a dull moment in my life and if I told you some of my stories. Just know I can’t make this stuff up. Although, I believe I can and will write in any genre. I feel that I write from my unheard voice and a place of silent truths. Like childhood trauma still seeking validation. Therefore I let my pain speak throughout my stories. The challenges to I have faced as a writer is real. However, if I must be brutally honest, finding balance and boundaries with family and friends will always be the hardest part of becoming successful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For restaurants The vortex, The juicy crawfish, Cozumel are my favorites and until they let me down I can’t really see going anywhere. For entertainment I would definitely recommend an Atlanta Falcons and Hawks game and a few Hip Hop and R&B concerts along with a movie or two at the Atlantic station and possibly whatever else we can get into.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shot out to God for continuing to keep my passion of writing purposeful. I would also like to give a special shot out to Rondi Teisen out of Christchurch Nz along with my fiancé Marilyn Miller Atlanta Ga for always pushing me even when I wanted to give up. Your support will never go unnoticed.
