We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Quist and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Hello world,

I am Erica Quist – I was born in St. Louis , MO! Raised in Atlanta , Ga. I chose to purse an artistic career , because it was my outlet from all of the mental break downs I was having. I suffer from depression and anxiety, and besides my family support. I would have really had a breakdown!

My brand saved me at a critical point in my life, when I thought about ending it at one point! I believe there is a higher power, who lifted my head held high, because out of no where, I started to believe in myself again.

BANK. Apparel Company, advocates for anyone who suffers from Mental Health, because I know the struggle is real! BANK. means Being A Noble King for now, but I am looking for an acronym for my Mental Health aspect of the business.

I remember being a child and loving art! Art has just always been a great hobby for me to release any stress and anger from my body!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’d like to say that my brand stands out from others, because it is simple and bold. My goal is to save one person at a time, one day at a time! My hope is to inspire others to have the will to live, because some are dealt some really tough cards in life!

I am most proud and excited to see my brand flourishing! I started from the ground up with zero experience with graphic design! I feel the gift was given to me naturally! No, it wasn’t easy. While I completed my brand in about a couple of weeks, it took a lot of blood sweat and tears, considering what I was going through.

I got where I am today professionally, because I suffered a total of 5 job losses, before I created BANK. Apparel! It’s a horrible feeling to loose so many jobs, and know that you put your blood, sweat, and tears into your job. I want people to know that I’m in a really good place, and smiling again!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, my best friends Niccole Anthony, Vernee Anthony, and Mercedes Stevensons, and Imanah all live in Atlanta, Ga; However, if we were to take a nice long trip together, I’d definitely want to take them to Bermuda! Bermuda has always been my favorite vacation spot! The last time I went, I did wakeboarding and horseback riding. My favorite foods are seafood, Italian, and Mexican! I am kind of anti social, so I’m not sure about the people part to be honest, I’m a very shy person!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, I’d love to give a shout it to my parents, my siblings , and my friends. They know who they are! They supported me, when I was up, and when I was down . They laughed with me, and cried with me. Tears of sadness, and joy! They have literally been there for me through thick and thin.

I’d also like to give a shout-out to my aunts , uncles, and cousins, and grandmother who have always encouraged me to keep pushing forward! They encouraged me to keep on living!
