We had the good fortune of connecting with Shannon Savoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shannon, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I have the pleasure and blessing of helping to raise two amazing children, Amari and Jadon. They have entered young adulthood and it’ is awesome seeing them grow. I get to witness their wins and their “losses” and how resilient they are and have always been. They are “Army” brats, the children of two veterans, as well as, a bonus dad that is a veteran. They moved to new environments (duty stations), had to make new friends often, attend different schools, and say goodbyes to best friends. They have witnessed my wins and losses, ups and downs which had an effect on them as well. It wasn’t easy, but now they can see why sacrificing then is paying off now.

The most important thing I have done for my children is introduce them and raise them in the admonition of The Most High God, give them a loving home where Christ is the chief cornerstone, and break generational curses for our bloodline and family. I apologize when I am wrong. I realize that I raised them from unhealed parts of me. At times, although I was older, I was still a child in many ways. I give myself the grace to grow and extend the same to them. They apologize when they get it wrong. We hold each other accountable in love. When God is your foundation, it does not mean that you are perfect. It does not mean that you will not make mistakes. It means having hard/heart conversations, following Christ, and fostering an atmosphere of transparency and honesty, goes a long way in the long run.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Narcissistic Abuse affects over 158 million people in the United States, and many survivors are unaware of what domestic abuse really is. It is spiritual warfare of epic proportions. Many people mistakenly believe that domestic abuse is only physical abuse. Physical abuse is one of the MANY forms of abuse. Emotional/psychological, sexual, financial, and spiritual abuse are the lesser-discussed forms of abuse. We are finally at a point where narcissists and abuse are being discussed in everyday headlines, in the “Shaderoom”, and it’s time that we begin discussing it and helping victims OUT of abuse IN the church.

Narc Free Living® is a life coaching business & deliverance ministry that caters to survivors of domestic violence & narcissistic abuse with biblical & practical strategies. I help my clients & mentees identify red flags and formulate strategic tactics to recognize, heal, and overcome abusive relationships. Many do not recognize that they are in abusive relationships. I help them understand they are not alone and they should not bear the shame of abuse. What sets me apart as a certified narcissist abuse recovery coach is that I truly connect and have a heart for survivors of abuse. I use a holistic approach to healing that is very effective. The Word of God coupled with practical methodologies to help break the chains of bondage. We go much deeper than recognizing the signs & traits of narcissists. We get to the ROOT of trauma and abuse, so a transformational mindset shift can truly occur from the inside out.

What sets me apart is that I help my clients heal holistically. My services are spiritually and biblically based, but I also incorporate practical and psychological strategies to help heal the mind, body, & spirit. I help them form their “A-Team”. Your A-Team is your recovery coach (me!), your therapist – who understands narcissist abuse, and other prayer warriors (church, pastoral, etc.) & supporters who help them through this time. As a survivor of abuse, I formulate programs and services that I wish I had. These experiences helped me to understand firsthand how damaging narcissistic abuse can be and what is necessary to heal.

I started this business in 2020, during the Covid pandemic. It was not easy, but I knew I was destined to tell my story and to help others understand that if I can make it out, they can too. Even as I healed from domestic abuse and spiritual warfare, I knew then that I would do whatever I could to also help others in my God-given purpose. Through my own experiences, I understand those who are out of abuse and are currently in abusive family & interpersonal relationships. With narcissist abuse, the abuse does not stop once the victim leaves. So, we formulate effective strategies through one-on-one coaching, group coaching, and support groups so they are better prepared for litigation, recovery, and everyday life.

I am most proud of the impact that Chain Breaker University (CBU) helped women of all demographics who are or were in narcissistic relationships to recover and begin their healing journey. It is great to see their lives transformed! CBU is all about God’s glory, healing, purpose, deliverance, communication, and elevation in the KINGDOM. It is totally designed with survivors in mind. Oftentimes survivors are in isolation or the Spiritual Intensive Care Unit (ICU), also known as the wilderness. The Chain Breaker community is one of faith-filled warriors who understand or want to be equipped in spiritual warfare after abuse.

A few lessons learned along the way:

*Keep God first in everything. I have daily and end-of-the-month business meetings that I call “Abba and Me Time”. It is prayer, fasting, and seeking His guidance for the way ahead. It is a game-changer!

*One person can do big things. It starts with one vision that can change generations to come.

*If you want to go, go alone. If you want to go FAR, go with others. We all need Kingdom helpers to help carry the vision to its next destiny.

Narc Free Living LLC’s services include 1-on-1 individual recovery coaching, group coaching programs, business coaching, educational workshops, Rock Your Crown events for women survivors, online support groups, newsletters, digital magazines, apparel, domestic abuse training, speaking engagements throughout the Houston community and online, and much more!

I want the world to know that Narc Free Living LLC was created to break the chains of abuse and not only live and survive, but THRIVE. My goal is to eradicate the shameful stigma that survivors experience. Shame prevents survivors from sharing impactful & powerful stories that may help themselves and others heal and achieve their God-given purpose. This helps us become stronger, healed individually, and thusly stronger, more productive families and communities. Let’s break the chains of narcissist abuse, link by link!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I ALWAYS have to give glory to my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. Without Him, there is no redemption for us all. I would not be the woman that I am and am becoming without the finished work of the cross. God gets ALL the glory in my comeback story! Next, my husband, Solomon, is my friend, my confidante, my protector, etc., etc., etc. We co-labor in home, ministry, business, and beyond. As a businesswoman and in ministry, it means everything to have a loving and supportive partner and spouse!

I have to give a special shoutout to my husband, children, my Chain Breaker (YouTube) community (Heyyy Chain Breakers!), and the Army of God International Ministries, located in Houston, Texas. Army of God has helped disciple, empower, and equip my family and countless others. Apostle Fred and Lady Igbego truly have a heart for God and seeing His people set free from bondage. If you are in the Houston area or online, check them out!
