We had the good fortune of connecting with Serina Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Serina, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is “ Don’t tell me the sky is the limit when there’s footprints on the Moon. “ That quote means so much to me. The sky is never the limit. Possibilities are endless. You just have to go out and get them. You can do anything you put your mind to. The only person who can stop you is you. You’re in charge of your own life. Every decision matters. Every day you’re one decision away from changing your life for the better. Dream big. No idea is too small.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Fem Gem LLC. I am a feminine women who drops gems. I plan on doing many things with this business. My main practice will be hair. It is my job to educate my current and future clients with their hair. I want women to invest more into their crown. And I am here to take them on that healthy hair journey. My next business venture I am working on, is vending machines, something small and passive. My first big project will be following the footsteps of my current team and that is getting my first creative studio/event space to rent out for other creatives. I plan on having all of these things done by the end of 2024.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend is coming to town. I will make sure she stays at the Hampton Inn & Suites Midtown Atlanta because I work at that property part time as a bartender and it’s a beautiful new location. We would, of course, do tourist things like see the Sky View Ferris Wheel check out Cascade on a Sunday night. My friends are a little bougie so we might have to go to Capital Grille. But I’m always OK with South City Kitchen in Buckhead. Atlanta never sleeps. Depending on the vibes we might hit in Red Martini in Buckhead. They have a karaoke room. Sunday fun day is giving Ponce City Market exploring the rooftop festivities. What is Sunday in Atlanta without brunch? Boogalu is always a vibe. Just make sure you’re in dress code. After all the fun, we can just kick it at the Hampton Inn and Suites Midtown Atlanta. Enjoying drinks at the rooftop around the fireplace.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a special shout out to my father for allowing me to come to Atlanta, and being in his space. I want to give a special shout out to Brittany B Slays. She was the first person to give me an assistant job. She was the first of people here in ATL to plant this hustle seed inside of me. I saw with Brittany how to make real money. I love how she is a woman of God just like me. She created the blueprint for me and I elevated it. I want to give a shout out to my current team now at the Beauty Scene. The possibilities are endless with these women. Makeisha and Meisha are simply amazing. They’re taking my skills and brand to the next level and they’re showing me New Horizons. They are the true definition of a dream team, and true go-getters. I’m not sure where I would be without their unconditional love and support.
