We had the good fortune of connecting with Ghazal Qadri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ghazal Qadri, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My goal was to establish a strong presence in the market by using my business as a platform to showcase my work. This strategy successfully garnered the attention of potential clients.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I grew up in a place that boasts a rich cultural heritage of art and craft but one that has experienced great conflict: Kashmir. It’s a haven for culture lovers who want to experience a variety of arts and crafts in the beautiful valley. From utensils to clothes, furniture to jewelry, everything in Kashmir reflects the skill and dedication of the locals. Art is like an outlet for me as I have grown up. I describe myself as a mischievous and naughty schoolkid who would vent her frustrations and pent-up energy by drawing caricatures of teachers while they delivered lectures. I found myself packing up outside the class. I am a storyteller and I like telling un-told stories about my experiences and the place I live in. I like to observe and draw.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Atlanta, I’d lovingly escort her to the cherished places that hold a special place in my heart, places I frequent with joy.
Our delightful journey would begin with a serene rendezvous at Botiwalla Chai, where we’d savor the exquisite delight of my favorite masala tea and indulge in the delectable SPDP, all amidst a charming ambiance.
Next, our taste buds would embark on a sweet adventure as we’d share moments over heavenly ice cream from Sweet Treats in Marietta, each bite a testament to our shared joy.
For a moment of serenity and connection with nature, I’d lead her to the majestic Stone Mountain, where we’d be surrounded by the quiet grandeur of the outdoors. And to conclude our day in wonder, we’d dive into the enchanting depths of the Aquarium, where the mysteries of the aquatic world would captivate our senses.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my father, Tajamul Hussain, who not only serves as a mentor to numerous young aspiring individuals but has also been an unwavering source of belief, support, and guidance throughout my journey as an artist. I am profoundly grateful to have been blessed with such a supportive and caring father, and I thank God for this incredible gift in my life.
