We had the good fortune of connecting with Melanie Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melanie, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
How I came up with the idea for my business is simple I prayed and asked God for a strategy. I did the traditional route I graduated high school, went to college, ranked up a crazy amount of debt, and got a job as a nurse. I was tired of doing the same thing. Nursing wasn’t my calling but being a nurse for my disabled husband was important so being a nurse was necessary. I’ve always had a talent for writing. Sometimes I go through my journals from childhood and see all the BIG things I planned to do in life and I get motivated. Thinking BIG was inside of me since I was a young child so praying and asking BIG was just the first step to the ideas God blessed me with.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I feel sets me apart from others is my ability to put God and my family first. What I’m most proud of is how my family and I have always come together to execute every business plan once God gives the idea to me or my husband. We have a family meeting with our daughters and we let them know the exciting news of starting a business or ministry even if it doesn’t work out the way we want it we still start by putting our all into that business. I wrote down all the businesses my family and I have tried it was 20 different ideas, 5 different brands, and 5 different industries. It let me know that we never quit or never gave up on anything we just worked harder. It wasn’t easy writing down all the things we thought were going to prosper, some didn’t and some we know will be prosperous soon. It’s all about stepping out on faith and trusting God will lead you in the right direction. I got through every struggle and challenge with prayer. I learned no matter how hard you try or how much you want something to work everything has a timing. I would love the world to know that I’m creating Prayer Journals so others can build or strengthen their relationship with God.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I know this might sound crazy to some but one of the best places I’ve discovered here in Georgia is on Route 56. I would leave my grandmother’s home to head to Atlanta and see the most beautiful scenery. Once a friend comes to visit I would take them there to relax. A lot of times people go on vacation to reset. Route 56 would be the most interesting place to check out in my opinion. Just seeing God’s handiwork would start any vacation off in the right direction. Afterward, we would go to King Crab ATL for some good seafood and drinks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband Antonio and my daughters Asia’anna & Destiny.
