We had the good fortune of connecting with Cashmere Perkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cashmere, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my own reality television show I was thinking about starting a platform for young black female entrepreneurs. I wanted to provide a platform where they can build a sisterhood without the violence and finding a way to communicate without bringing one another down. I want to change the cycle and change the narrative of all woman reality tv shows.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have major talent. I write music which I have recorded with my sister who is a big star herself. I write poetry,plays, movie scripts, and im the ceo of my show THEORIGINALBADDIESOFNYC and EXECUTIVE PRODUCER for another project in working on with Ricky romance, Tai Jackson, Shane sparks and vh1 Apple Watts. YES, I was excited to be able to watch my own work on my TV screen because it reminds me of the ups and downs I experienced while trying to put my project together. It showed me strength it showed my I AM CAPABLE. I manifested this LITERALLY lol. If you can SEE YOU CAN BELIEVE. I blocked everything and everyone out to get this far. It will take some lonely nights, late nights to accomplish your dream goals. I over came my challenges by not giving up, my therapist helped me a lot mentally. Many days I didn’t want to move forward because you will meet snakes and demons along the way that will try to take you down. I prayed and I kept going. I had to cut ties with ppl who were no good for me or my brand. EVERYONE can’t experience what God have in store for you. Along the way in learning how to organize better with my time, learning how to work with ppl on a more buisness level this taught me THE GAME AIN’T FOR EVERYONE.. but it was for me lol Season 2 THEORIGINALBADDIESOFNYC TAKES LAS VEGAS COMING SOON

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend to all the hot spots in NYC. That’s where I’m from born and raised BROWNSVILLE BROOKLYN. Time square, central park, ferry ride, hot food spots, clubs, bars, amusement parks, picnics just major site seeing. There are many things in New York city. This is the BIG APPLE if you know YOU KNOW … not much to be explained. With me you guaranteed a GREAT NIGHT. you just might wake up with a hangover lol.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank GOD for providing me with the talent and patience to be able to have my own show and share it with the world. I want to thank my rotv network for having me a part of a new show I’ll be executive producer on which is coming soon. Thank you to Ntitvnetwork for seeing my shows potential and allowing me to have a platform to build my creations and watch it grow. This won’t be the last because it’s just the beginning.
