We had the good fortune of connecting with Goldy Tavares and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Goldy, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The single most important decision I made that contributed to my success was treating people how I want to be treated and stop putting myself last helping others before I help myself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been in the entertainment business for 20+ yrs. I am currently the Founder & Co-owner of Gold Tea Productions LLC. A music publishing company that has offices here in the states and Johannesburg, South Africa. This company has been around for 15yrs. I recently accepted a Executive Vice president role with Rockefellas Enterprises. Rockefellas Enterprises owns billboards, a sports bar, creative content building, & more. I have always been for the underdog and the less fortunate because I was one of those people. I was one that others assumed because of my upbringing I wouldn’t amount to anything. Well I not only beat those odds I took it further by earning two degrees a bachelors degree in Psychology and a masters degree in business administration (MBA). I currently own multiple businesses and still haven’t reached my peak. One lesson I have learned along the way is good work sells itself. If you have a great product and do everything you need to do for the product to be successful it will be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Haha! Well if my friend was visiting me we would visit our bar lol. I would take them to different restaurants throughout the week but most of the time we would invite people over to my house and probably hang out by the pool and jacuzzi. I like traveling internationally and if you haven’t been I recommend exploring the entire continent of Africa as it’s like teleporting to many different worlds within the countries.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my grandmother for always believing in me and never giving up hope that one day I would change and become who she always said I would become. I just wish she was alive to see my transition but I know she is smiling down on me from heaven.
