We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Gibbs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Olivia, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
It’s never too late to pursue your dreams. Surround yourself with a group of people who dream like you, who have the drive you have and whom you share common interest with. It literally takes a village to obtain and maintain success. Starting my business has shown me how valuable it is to be resilient and to never give up. I can honestly say if it wasn’t for my village of supports OM Photography would not be where it is today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My love for all things media started in middle school, when iMac G3 with the colorful backs were a thing. I always loved how endless the possibilities were when you make art. The most exciting part about being a photographer is seeing the look on my clients face when I have made their vision come to life. I was always the designated camera man at all events and outings, never shying away from capturing moments. As I began to start my business the biggest challenge was teaching my self the foundations of photography with no college experience. I’ve learned that no matter how great you’ve perfected your craft there’s always opportunity for growth. I want to my future clients to know that every picture tells, a different story, let me help tell yours!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve lived in Atlanta for over 18+ years, and each year is always a new experience. However, my favorite places to tour are right in the heart of the city. I would start the day with a nice brunch at ” Breakfast at Barney’s” with their top tier girts. Followed by a fun afternoon at ” Your 3rd spot” or “Top Golf”, then enjoy a nice lunch from the infamous “slutty vegan”. To end the night I would slide right over to “Skyline Park”, an experience within itself.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

There are many people in my life that deserve recognition when it comes to my business. But first and foremost, my mother has been the most devoted client I ever have. She has always encouraged me to purse my dream and never give up. Her kindred spirit, her tenacity and her love for God is what set me on the right path since childhood. My mother planted the seed that in me as a child that my family, friends and husband would later water to grow.

I will always acknowledge my village who has poured into me over the years. I owe a big thanks to my sisters, brothers, aunties, uncles and my best-friends. Each and every one of them have made big contributions to my success and progress. I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for the collective effort of my people that God has placed in my life.

Lastly my husband, who I am extremely grateful for has pushed me past my fears and limitations and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. He has invested so much into me and my business and it’s the main reason why I have the opportunity to run my business today. He’s not afraid to critique me, guide me, or correct me. He is my biggest supporter and my best client, so thank you my dearest husband for being so amazing.

SHOUT OUT TO MY VILLAGE.
