Meet Rob Springer | Media Company Founder and Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Springer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rob, how do you think about risk?
Risk for me is everything, and it always has been. If a situation is stagnant, you will die in one way or another.
This is true in life as well as business. I have always been hyper-aware of those situations where things have gotten too comfortable.
When you hit that cozy plateau, that place in your personal life where things have gotten “just okay,” or that position in your career where the challenge has pretty much evaporated. These times have driven me to change, thrive, grow, and ultimately evolve.
It can take a lifetime to learn this, and some never do. We are born with this need to advance ourselves, and as often happens, the clutter of life can easily get in the way.
The resolve to truly understand what you can achieve was the first part of my reach toward success; the next steps were goal setting, mapping a course, and being flexible and ready for change. Adjustments are always ok and expected.
As a producer, business owner, actor, spokesperson, public speaker, and podcast host – I have made sure that the things that I do – the things that make me happy are a short, dynamic list that allows me the ability to make money while expressing myself creatively.

What should our readers know about your business?
RS Media Group is my business, and it is grown out of years of idea crafting and content creation. RS Media Group works with companies and clients to tell stories – and to capture them in the most effective and often cinematic ways.
I started a few decades back on this career path in NYC. I’m from NY and laid a professional foundation for myself in Manhattan. At one point back then, I decided I wanted a better quality of life, so I moved south and started a video production company, sold it after a decade, and started a diverse media department at a large communications company.
While I was in NY, I had also did some acting and on-camera/on-mic work through an acting school I worked at in Time Square. That part of my life re-surfaced occasionally as my media content career advanced.
In the last decade, I have greatly combined my work and skill set from in front of the camera and integrated it to help capture people, talent, and locations in front of my own lens. It is what I call my “360° View”.
What I have found unique and invaluable for myself is the ability to work with a wide range of talented directors and crew as an actor and spokesperson – then to bring my experiences from that world over to my career as a producer/director.
Some of the work I am most proud of has been projects with broadcast networks, film companies and magazines. I’m particularly fond of a children’s animated tv series I created (currently in ongoing production) and most recently, an upcoming documentary I filmed and field-produced while traveling Ukraine, it’s cities, and the front-lines during the war.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I find Atlanta to be an ever-changing and thriving place. The energy here is palpable. I would take friends to Ponce City Market, Atlantic Station, and Piedmont Park. I always enjoy the river and the nature of The Chattahoochee.
I am also partial to Atlanta’s Ted’s Montana Grill restaurants. I was lucky enough to have worked on a project with the Turner family, visited the family’s Flying D Ranch in Montana, and had a great meal at Ted’s Montana Grill in Bozeman. Great people and a great place.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is to the team of people that make up my company, a very small group of friends and the bosses I’ve worked for. There is also a very special person in my life … and not to be mysterious, but I know pretty much none of them would want me to say their names for various reasons. Is that a good shoutout? It’s at least half-way there 🙂
