We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenika Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenika, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my company out of a desire to have a side hustle for side money. For a while, I had been brainstorming a few ideas for business ventures I thought I could be successful with. It wasn’t until I saw a shoe on Netflix, Tidying Up With Marie Kondo, that I realized this was going to be it.

Once I made up my mind on starting a professional home organizing company, I went all in getting the business off the ground. Today, I am four years in with plans to become a staple name in the industry.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Tidied by K is in the home services industry. We offer professional home organizing services to clients struggling to create order in their homes. In action, that looks like partnering with each client, teaching them how to purge everything in their space they don’t love, use, want, or need.

From there, we marry both function and form to create beautifully crafted and intuitive systems anyone utilizing the space can manage long-term. What sets us apart is our ability to truly marry function and form that offers both a physical and mindest transformation throughout the process.

To get to where I am today, required sacrifice, and the beautiful thing is I haven’t my final destination. There is a ton of room for me to grow, more impact to make, and more goals to set and accomplish. Over the last 4 years, I have sacrificed time, energy, money, relationships, health, and so much more. And it’s not to say that is or was my goal, but it’s what I did to get to where I am now. I am proud that after four years of entrepreneurship, I have gotten to a place where I value seeking balance and honoring boundaries.

At the start of my company, I dreamt of Tidied by K becoming a staple brand in homes around the world. That vision and dream have remained the same. I aspire to have a household company that sparks thought, conversation, and transformative thinking as it relates to how people do “home”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d start the day by hitting the gym. I’d likely take them to Lifetime Fitness or a Black-owned gym here in Atlanta, FINAO. From there, we’d head to my favorite acai place, Frutta Bowls. After that, we could hit Piedmont Park or the Beltline to walk around and just be outside for a few. Lunch would be at my favorite, Tassili’s Raw Vegan Reality. From there, we’d probably go home to nap (gym + sun + food = a 2-hour nap AT MINIMUM lol). Finally, we head out to do something fun, just depending on how we’re feeling- could be skating, could be an escape room, or it could be a nice dinner/bar spot in the city.

I’m a foodie and trying new restaurants in the city, so typically, anything that involves food is an easy yes for me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My online community and clients deserve so much credit and recognition in my story. At the start of my journey, I had so much anxiety about showing up online, if people would find my content helpful, engaging, etc. and they have been so supportive of my growth.

And for my clients, well, they are honestly the backbone of what I get to do on a daily. Without them, I would not have a growing brand.
