We had the good fortune of connecting with Timothy Rozier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Timothy, what makes you happy? Why?
What makes me happy is being able to live life the way I choose to without allowing anyone’s judgment to influence my happiness. Being able to take care of my family, support my friends and give back to my community by providing positive affirmation through my music and clothing line “OverQualified”,
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a creative, we are blessed with many talents, sometimes when you are blessed with many talents its difficult to focus on just one because you want to do them all. That was my biggest challenge, working on my music, working on my clothing line also trying to pursue acting. I really had to step back and refocus on what I really wanted to work on the most. Coincidentally, back in 2019 one day, I was having a rough day. going through relationship issues with a lover and a friend only to check my email to see where I applied for a position that told me I was overqualified. At that moment, I reached my boiling point. I was upset because I knew I would be a great candidate for the role. It was something I was familiar with, I was content with doing and found it easy to do, I know how this operates and I was used to it but also in that same moment I realized they were right. I am overqualified, not only for that job I am also overqualified for a broken heart, fake friends and anything that is not for me. Yes! I am OverQualified! I know who I am and I know my worth and what I deserve! It promotes self love and self worth letting everyone that has been through something know they are OVERQUALIFIED. With that being said, I launched my clothing which is doing really well. Once I got that in motion, I finally found the courage in 2022 to release my first single “Money looks good on me FT Metro”, that’s when I became a Recording artist 4/7/2022! In the midst of putting my music out I received an unexpected blessing to be a Radio personality on 94.7thelink! Had no idea it was something I was interested in but I truly do love it. It gives me the opportunity to create platform for myself and other artist. Currently! I’m also working on writing my own short film where I’m casting myself, aye sometimes you have to build your own opportunities and that’s what I’m doing!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I’m located in Atlanta GA which means….. there is always something to do. Normally, on a Friday night we’ll start our night off with dinner at Sea Salt, a nice intimate restaurant located in the Virginia Highland area, afterwards head over to the Hilton Hotel where we sometimes over indulge in alcohol beverages.. respectfully while networking and meeting people all walks of life, then end the night at someone’s house recapping the events of the night, Saturdays, are more chill, unless we decide to go to Piedmont park for the festivals or decide attend an art museum. Sunday funday is always an amazing time. Start with brunch at Blu Martini, or T’s brunch in midtown both spots are great! Serves some of the best food in Atlanta, ( I might be a little bias but its really good to me), Afterwards, take it home and prepare for a positive.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my family and close friends who have supported me through this entire journey. I remember days I wanted to give up or felt like I wasn’t good enough but they always reminded me of my greatness and for that I will always show my gratitude to them first.
